Manages assigned product lines to achieve corporate revenue and
profitability goals. Manages activities including development of
product / platform strategy, market planning / research, product
development, merchandising, implementation and life cycle management to
achieve these goals.
STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT
- Contributes in the development of category and business strategy
for Steelcase. Helps identify offering strategy gaps & helps drive
team to solutions.
- Forecasts sales volumes and establishes pricing strategies that
support Steelcase goals.
- Consults on corporate and inter-department projects and initiatives.
- Ensures Product / Platform strategies and plans support
business objectives.
- Resolves complex business dilemmas by identifying and using
appropriate level of analysis.
- Contributes when sought out as a knowledge leader on
marketing-related subjects.
PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
Develops & manages implementation of annual business & offerings
plans, and roadmapping activity.
Initiates development of new products, product enhancements and line
extensions (services, product & subscriptions)
Ensures appropriate pricing levels, adjustments and discounting
ranges to support Steelcase profit goals
Acts as key department spokesperson on product issues.
Through product strategy work, identifies product
development priorities. Acts as key participant in Product
Development and Launch of new projects. At times responsible to lead
multifunctional teams for activities related to new product
development. (ie: Phase 0 work. Launch planning).
Responsible for making product marketing priorities clear which will
help in planning and prioritizing of operations and engineering
projects, as well as development team priorities.
Manages activities in conjunction with operations partners to meet
cost management goals.
MARKETING / MERCHANDISING
- Sets strategic direction and works with marketing communications
partners to create and implement communication plans and
related tools.
- Identifies sales training requirements and leads development in
conjunction with sales training organization. .
- Ensures effective and timely sales support.
- Helps set showroom display objectives, working with
industrial design.
ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT
- Manages annual product line budget.
- Manages assigned staff effectively to meet business objectives and
promote employee development.
Required Skills
- SaaS based business model experiences and recurring revenue and
offering management, is preferred
- Services design and implementation in a technology and/or software
environment is preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of marketing / sales along with previous
successful product management experience
- Proven ability to understand product line financials and pricing
through strong financial acumen
- Requires thorough understanding of product development process,
preferably through direct experience on a major development project
- Ability to establish operating strategies, plans, and budgets for
assigned product / program group(s)
- Ability to manage multiple, competing demands effectively using
appropriate prioritization & organizational skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills required to effectively work with
research, design, engineering, manufacturing sales/marketing,
dealers and internal Steelcase leaders at multiple levels
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Must be able to
prepare and present product / program proposals to all levels of
management
- Ability to communicate technical concepts in a way others can
easily understand.
- Ability to create new knowledge to drive positive change and new
strategies
Required Experience
- Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Marketing or Business
- Graduate degree (MBA) preferred or equivalent working experience
- Significant work experience with product / program development
activities or sales related functions
- Software as a service business model experiences, services
management, or other like experience preferred
- 5 - 7 years of marketing or product management experience is
preferred
