Graphic Design Thrift Intern THE ARC GREATER TWIN CITIES 21 reviews - Saint Paul, MN Internship Organization & Position Summary: The Arc Minnesota and Arcs Value Village promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, actively supporting them and their families in a lifetime of full inclusion and participation in their communities. The Arc pursues lasting community change and connections that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in creating a good life. Directly supporting The Arcs Value Village marketing team, this position applies skills in creative design and implements graphic designs for Arcs Value Village thrift stores. Interns will also learn about The Arc Minnesota Values of We value each person, We are connectors, We are courageous, and We are accountable. Major Responsibilities: * Develop annual in-store signage plan for The Arcs Value Village stores with deliverables and delivery schedule * Implement plan on schedule while updating, evaluating and editing existing files * Work with team members to conceptualize and develop graphics * Develop, recommend and implement compelling new campaign visuals * Create, print and deliver designs for point-of-sale, sale and related promotional posters, promotional signage, newspaper ads, etc. meeting quality standards * Evaluate and report on strength of assets (designs); make recommendations based on review of competitors and best in class * Research and recommend processes for on-demand and in-store sign making * Provide design & content recommendations for The Arcs Value Village website; implement changes as directed * Evaluate process effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvement * Web related work if applicable and other duties and projects as requested * A written recap of their experience and what they learned from their internship with Arc Benefits & Professional Development Opportunities: * Includes a $1000 stipend payable in December 2018 and May 2019or the utilization of work-study if eligible. * Apply design talent and knowledge that contribute to a nonprofit thrift business supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities * Gain a working understanding of the workflow, production requirements and creativity required to succeed in a retail graphic design environment * Expand professional portfolio with a wide variety of design and production applications * Demonstrate professional demeanor in behavior, appearance and communication to multiple audiences * Demonstrate skill in effective use of resources and time management Qualifications: * Knowledge of media and electronic communication systems; must have demonstrated knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign and Photoshop specifically * Knowledge of marketing and communications * Willingness to demonstrate initiative and successfully work both as a team member and independently * Excellent project management, problem solving and time management skills; must be action oriented * Project management experience; can prioritize and multi-task in fast-paced environment * Must possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills * Pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Digital Arts or related field preferred Time Commitment: A digital and graphic design position September 2018 May 2019. Must be available to intern 10-12 hours a week.
