The analyst of New Business Development will be a valuable team member that supports senior NBD team members in sourcing acquisition and investment ideas; qualifying those ideas thorough intensive qualitative, strategic and quantitative analysis; creating presentations and other materials to explain concepts to Executive Leadership Team and other stakeholders; and assisting with various ad-hoc tasks in the end to end transaction execution process. The role will support key NBD processes and initiatives including the management of multiple simultaneous projects and the development of presentations that articulate findings and actionable recommendations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Support full-cycle M&A and strategic investment processes from ideation and identification, through to opportunity screening, due diligence, financial analysis, project and communications management and ad-hoc assignments related to of deal structuring, negotiation and closing
Support development of highly complex financial and valuation analyses, as well as the preparation of accompanying materials to facilitate communication and discussion with key stakeholders
Support preparation for recurring monthly Investment Committee meeting
Assist in strategic efforts to identify brands, companies and capabilities that are well-positioned to accelerate ELC’s growth, align to our strategic plan and comport with our investment parameters
Support diligence process management and coordination with functional teams and external advisors
Support the development of target business plan and integration planning
Track and monitor the M&A ecosystem and competitive landscape to help prioritize opportunities
Assist with management of external relationships within the investment, beauty, and luxury communities
QUALIFICATIONS
IDEAL COMPETENCIES AND LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES
Significant, full-cycle transaction execution experience within an industry- or category-leading, multinational corporation, consulting firm, investment banking or private equity/venture capital firm
Strong technical financial modeling skills and expert facility with creation of presentations and other written communications
Excellent project management skills evidenced by the ability to manage multiple complex projects (and associated stakeholders) with competing priorities, simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into meaningful conclusions
Strong interpersonal skills with bias for action, willingness to take ownership and team-oriented mentality
Self-starter with high emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and sense of humor
CANDIDATE PROFILE MODICUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strategic, analytical, and agile thinker with creative problem-solving skills; Ability to both comprehend big-picture strategic ideation and master minute details
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics
Minimum of 3 – 4 years’ experience, ideally from a leading investment banking, private equity, venture capital or consulting firm
Strong business acumen and judgment; Demonstrated worldly perspective and understanding of global markets, trends, and evolution
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to convey often complex ideas and information concisely and persuasively across broad, global stakeholder base
Highly organized and competent at successfully project-managing large, complex initiatives within tight timeframes and across diverse, cross-functional, and geographically disperse teams
Able to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 35-50%
Consumer sector expertise (Retail, Beauty, Luxury, Digital) preferred
