Assistant Manager, Market & Competitive Intelligence
POSITION SUMMARY:
This client service focused position drives the analytics & reporting function for Competitive and Market Intelligence across the brands and affiliates. The position works closely with ELC's internal clients as well as external market data providers to provide data, analytics, insights and recommendations. The position establishes high visibility and trust throughout the organization at all levels.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
COMPETITIVE & MARKET INTELLIGENCE:
Lead Project Management for development and maintenance of ELC’s Global Market Performance Data Model (GMPDM), which harmonizes data for 22 markets across 5 syndicated sources. Responsibilities include:
Coordinating with internal OneSource team, IT team, and regional EM&D Market Intelligence teams to ingest, harmonize, de-duplicate ELC and competitive beauty product (leveraging product descriptions on a monthly and quarterly basis)
Work closely with IT and other support teams to manage, maintain, and enhance global market data model – including ingesting new syndicated data sources.
Validate, sign-off product categorization by OneSource; Provide feedback on the product categorization as it relates to syndicated data reporting to the product governance council.
Establish and communicate frequency of deliverable, data granularity (category, subcategory, SKU, etc.), time periods shown, affiliates, data sources, etc. through maintenance of delivery cadence calendar, direct and regular contact with any outsourced 3rd party vendors, and ongoing quality checks on all reports distributed.
Ensure GMPDM data is clean and usable for all internal stakeholders.
Responsible to build global share reports including the Global Prestige Sub-Category Share Report and Global Prestige Online Share Report.
Develop, maintain, distribute, and meet any other internal analysis/reports that synthesizes multiple data sources, and respond to Senior Management critical business questions.
Support brand teams through ad-hoc analyses around competitive deep-dives including sales performance, market share changes, MOB changes, and other business questions. Partner with internal customers to answer business questions to help brands understand how best syndicated data can help improve performance in partnership with other team members.
Provide support to key stakeholders throughout the organization to find high level insights and actions which will include the identification of granular growth opportunities
LEADERSHIP & PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS:
Proven experience managing or working with cross functional teams in mid-to-large scale, complicated projects
Collaborates and communicates with multiple stakeholders, encouraging creativity when problem-solving
Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools including Agile and Hybrid Agile
Ability to adjust to changing priorities/goals and to adapt timelines, budgets and scope accordingly
Methodical in approach especially in risk management and mitigation planning
VENDOR MANAGEMENT:
Deliver insights and analysis from syndicated vendors, with key learnings and actions, including guiding and facilitating presentations and ad-hoc report purchases.
Work with data vendors to improve existing service offerings, enhance the relationship with, and contribution to ELC and our brands. Promote cross brand learnings throughout the organization.
Maintain PO process and contract particulars in conjunction with Finance counterparts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management or related field or equivalent experience
3-5 years working experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the FMCG, Cosmetic or Retail industries and with regional exposure in a Market Intelligence role, or in a technology role able to handle and manipulate large data sets
Passionate about Data & Analytics: You are able to handle a high volume of consumer, competitive and company data and draw out the key insight for application to the business strategy. You ask the right questions to help shape an analysis and are able to deep dive to identify areas of opportunity
Strong analytical/technical experience: You have hands on experience working with analytical tools, with proficiency in Excel/PPT. Experience with visualization tools, like Tableau and Power BI, is a plus
Effective Communication Skills: You are an exceptional listener with the ability to communicate your ideas clearly and deliver a succinct presentation
