    POSITION SUMMARY: Generate inspiring, strategic creative concepts and copy that contribute significantly to brand initiatives. Responsible and accountable for all projects assigned (from new product launches to ongoing project support), executing to excellence.

     

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop copy/concepts for a wide range of projects from product and shade naming to package copy; in-store collateral to video scripts; digital storytelling to print advertising; seasonal collections to shows, events and promotions.
    • Articulate a point of view that helps shape the strategic direction of copy; collaborate with Marketing and Retail Partners to build compelling strategies that translate consumer insights into meaningful, on-brand creative copy solutions.
    • Ensure that Aveda brand character, image and voice are represented consistently across all projects, retail channels and media platforms (digital and traditional), with copy that is sharp, clear, impactful and concise.
    • Communicate strategies, concepts and creative initiatives with authority, credibility and clarity, demonstrating strong oral communication and presentation skills, and building consensus and agreement for creative approvals.
    • Maintain high awareness of digital trends; new emerging technologies and platforms; beauty and salon industry trends and trending environmental issues and concerns; be knowledgeable and active in social media.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to do whatever it takes to make the creative solution stronger; always be open to new ideas and creative feedback.
    • Clearly communicate a sense of urgency around requests.
    • Work closely and effectively in a dynamic and highly collaborative team environment with Director of Copy, Designers, Visual Merchandising, Multimedia Production and Creative Operations, ensuring timely development and seamless implementation of all elements for all initiatives.
    • Work closely with Legal on vetting/writing/re-writing all copy points, which are claims intensive.
    • Work closely with Trademark on approvals for Headlines and Names of all kinds
    • Articulate concepts clearly to internal teams and advocate for the work against the brief.
    • Show a range of fresh and original copy/creative solutions that respond to creative briefs and assignments.
    • Meet project timelines through good time management and workflow prioritization.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of Copy Processes for different types of projects, requesting help as needed
    • Deliver polished work for creative reviews and finished work to level desired by Copy Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field   

    5+ years professional related experience; skilled in a diversity of written materials including collateral, web, video, multimedia

    Demonstrated ability to respond constructively to direction and feedback

    Work effectively with peers across functions to deliver solutions that are on brief, on strategy, and on brand

    Display a sense of methodology and process behind work

    Communicate with management proactively about project status and issues as they arise

    Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines handling multiple projects simultaneously
