    The North America EHS&S Commercial Markets Manager is part of a team responsible for Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability in the NOAM Commercial Market (Freestanding Stores, Partners, Military Sales, Travel Retail, Online, Field, Salon, Spa, & Regional Brand Offices), Corporate Headquarters, and Third-Party Logistics. This position will have responsibility throughout the region to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws (e.g. OSHA, DOT, DOH, MOL) and manage KPIs for both leading and lagging indicators.

     

    • Maintain an awareness of new and existing relevant laws, rules and regulations, and take actions appropriate to ensure timely compliance and communication to appropriate departments.
    • Maintains competency and stays current in the profession of Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability and the Transportation of Hazardous Materials.
    • Participate in and respond to regulatory inquiries and inspections of an environmental, health, safety nature or transportation of hazardous materials with supervision. 
    • Manage regulatory gap assessments across the region, with a focus on corporate offices, regional offices, and training facilities..
    • Partner with Corporate Security to align emergency response programs and support relative education to ensure employee awareness.
    • Collaborate with Office Services to execute EHS+S programs and policies, including but not limited the corporate ergonomics program, safety audits, energy/waste/water reduction, WELL certification and maintenance, and regulated waste.
    • Support the implementation of EHS&S programs to ensure compliance and meet the standards of the company. Work with regional EHS+S colleagues as well as key partners to implement programs in the region.
    • Develop and maintain EHS+S policies to protect the safety of employees and ensure regulatory compliance of environments in which they operate, with focus on offices and training facilities.
    • Access, analyze and collate environmental and safety performance data and reporting information to internal staff and regulatory bodies.
    • May provide oversight to junior staff, interns or hourly employees in assignments supporting the EHS+S department.
    • Supports the Hazardous Material Transportation Programs in the region.
    • Implement and maintain proper regulated waste programs in all sites of the region.      
    • Tracks and records EHS regulatory inquiries and inspections for the EASEHS+S Annual Report.
    • Contribute to the development of internal communications to bring awareness to department or corporate achievements related to EHS+S
    • Supports and manages 3rd party vendors.
    • Manage the KPI’s for the North America Commercial Market, with a focus on office employees and operations.
    • Support the region’s execution and ongoing maintenance of the ELC response to COVID-19 to ensure the company can safely deliver on the commitments to our employees and our consumers.
    • Manage the investigation of employee and consumer incidents. Partner with Medical on Employee Return to Work Programs and Early Intervention Programs.
    • Manage contracts and contract employees in the region.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in retail operations, store construction and/or design is preferred
    • Ability to understand and communicate technical environmental and safety requirements and to lead and execute regional and global strategies within a multi-disciplinary team to meet requirements
    • Experience in managing a multi-dimensional operational organization is required
    • Strategic thinking and exceptional collaboration skills is a must
    • Sound project management experience to establish and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, project timelines, work plans, and performance requirements is required
    • Knowledge, education, and experience in EHS&S programs with a focus on injury and illness prevention, transportation of dangerous goods, hazardous waste, recycling, and/or energy conservation is required
    • Knowledge and experience in sustainability programs with a focus on zero waste, green buildings, recycling, waste management and the circular economy
    • Experience with sustainability reporting standards: GRI, CDP and the GHG Accounting Protocol is a plus
    • Experience with ISO 14001, LEED, WELL, GRI, EED is a plus
    • Excellent presentation, technical and written communication skills and ability to adjust communication style based on the situation and the audience
    • Ability to understand and communicate technical information to key stakeholders
    • Self-motivation, self-management, ingenuity, and ability to drive best practice thinking is required
    • Working conditions will vary and may include: warehouse, distribution, retail store/counter locations and offices/training facilities.
    • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via multiple modes of transportation (airplane, subway, train, taxi, rental car, etc.) in various settings.
    • Candidate must be able to lift and transport their personal luggage & equipment as needed.
    • Candidate must be able to wear required personal protective equipment of the working environment which includes and is not limited to: steel toe shoes, hair/beard nets, safety glasses
    • Psychological and cognitive demands of the role may include: complex problem solving, working at times under pressure or fast pace, traveling/driving, reading comprehension, calculations and writing.
    • Capable of global travel without visa restrictions

    Good PC skills to manipulate and present data. Fluent in suite of Microsoft applications.

    Bachelor’s degree required in Safety, Health Science, Environmental Science or Engineering, Public Health, or other Science/Technology. Advanced degree a plus.

    5-7 years’ experience in the area of environmental compliance, safety, or sustainability preferably in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, or retail industry

    Candidate must have professional fluency in English. Fluency in one or more additional languages is a plus.

    Has or currently working towards certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or similar designation

    is a plus.
