Manager, Clinical Testing Research & Development
The Manager, Clinical Testing Operations is responsible for the execution of internal clinical projects related to all ELC brands, as part of the Clinical Operations team. This position is critical to the clinical substantiation of claims and the establishment of clinical testing designs for our brands, across the skincare and makeup categories. The primary goal for the Clinical Operations team is to demonstrate product efficacy and support claims such as numerical claims and visuals.
Establishes successful partnerships with the various functions in R&D, Product Development and Legal to bring clinical initiatives to successful outcomes.
Develops protocols, assists in the execution of studies, reviews data and communicate findings to partners.
Works closely with all the clinical sub-functions to execute testing. Acts as Principal Investigator on internal studies.
Identifies new capabilities, methodologies, process to bring innovation and efficiencies.
Assures all testing is conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practices and data integrity principles.
Leads a team of scientists and develops the team’s skillset to enable the organization’s long term objectives.
Execute clinical projects following principles of GCP.
Establish clinical testing strategies for each project.
Develop/ set up protocols for internal studies.
Contribute to claim brainstorming.
Establish and execute studies - establish cross-functional teams to execute clinical studies rapidly and efficiently.
Develop new methods and validate new external sites. In partnership with the other functions
Manage, coach, and develop scientists on testing practices, methods and claim support.
Leadership (50%) - Provide leadership in supporting claims testing strategies across all brands for internal projects. Lead and develop the Clinical Testing team of scientists to provide unsurpassed clinical support on claims/demos/visuals to assure integrity and innovation of our claims, continuously raising the skills of the staff.
Decision Making (20%) – set up the appropriate methodologies to support claims. Prioritize the work for the team.
Independence of Action and Accountability (20%) –The Manager, Clinical testing Operations is accountable for the testing executed internally to assure all testing is performed according to GCP and data integrity principles. This role is also responsible for the management review and approval of the reports on the tests executed or supervised by the Clinical Operations team.
Problem Solving (10%) – resolving problems arising from unexpected study results, performing a due-diligence on results, identifying novel methods to test new claims, identifying organizational efficiencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ Years in the cosmetic or personal care industry with experience in clinical testing, and functioning in a GCP environment.
Demonstrated track record in clinical testing. Hands-on knowledge of clinical bioinstrumentation, clinical grading, clinical imaging and image analyses. Proven experience in clinical method development and innovative clinical designs. Highly effective organizational planning skills and project management of multiple projects/products is required. Skilled in leading a team of scientists. Experience in direct interactions with the Marketing and Legal functions.
