Job Description:
The Trademark Paralegal will be experienced, highly motivated and energetic with strong domestic and international searching and prosecution experience, to join established, fast paced, in-house trademark department. The person must be able to work independently in the following areas:
Conduct preliminary domestic and international screening searches via online database and Internet searches;
Request and review full search reports and make recommendations; supervise outside investigations;
Supervise filing of U.S. trademark applications, Statements of Use, Extensions of Time, Renewals, Section 8 & 15 Affidavits, Assignments, Notices of Opposition and related documents;
Supervise drafting of non-substantive responses to U.S. Office Action letters;
Instruct and liaise with foreign associates regarding clearance and filing of applications, prosecution, renewals and foreign oppositions;
Support domestic and international conflicts including liaising with internal clients and outside counsel to gather evidence;
Provide training and advice to in-house clients;
Support domain name registration and management and anti-counterfeiting enforcement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5+ years of experience, including domestic and international searching, clearance, filings, prosecution and docketing;
College Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate;
Working knowledge of Saegis or similar search database, Anaqua, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel;
Must be detail oriented, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure;
Project Management experience, preferred.
Foreign language skills and industry experience a plus, but not required;
Salary commensurate with experience;
Corporate experience preferred.
