Position Summary:
Oversee the filling and assembly departments. Directly supervise filling and assembly activities and personnel in a manner consistent with manufacturing department goals and objectives. Description of responsibilities in their order of importance:
Effectively train and support the filling and assembly staff
Key goal: Maintain a staff of employees that are effectively trained on executing all procedures, policies and processes
Identify skill requirements for all filling and assembly department positions
Implement training plans for each department employee
Work directly with the staff and teach any identified training needs
Utilize the training coordinator to document completed training
Communicate performance expectations and provide constructive feedback
Hire and promote employees based on identified skill requirements
Conduct and administer performance appraisals and address employee relation issues
Conduct group informational meetings with the staff
Organize and maintain a safe work environment
Key goal: Eliminate accidents and continuously improve ergonomics
Ensure employees adhere to established safe work practices
Ensure employees utilize proper ergonomic related equipment
Identify and implement programs to reduce workplace injuries
Document any necessary safety related issues
Organize and maintain a quality / caring work environment
Key goal: Produce product that meets all quality expectations and eliminate rejections
Verify all product quality standards are maintained and documented
Analyze causes of quality challenges and institute corrective action as necessary
Enforce manufacturing procedures
Coordinate efforts with QA, Maintenance and Temporary service to ensure safety, quality and efficiency on the production lines
Document any necessary quality related issues.
Effectively utilize line equipment, materials and labor resources
Key goal: Verify routings and consistently produce to standard cost
Provide assistance in startup, operation, changeover and troubleshooting of multiple lines
Verify all line efficiency goals are being maintained and documented
Identify sources of material loss and implement reduction programs
Organize and execute the daily production schedule
Key goal: Complete all production runs on schedule
Ensure accurate production reporting
Interact with the temp agency representative regarding staffing needs
Schedule filling and assembly department equipment and workflow based on available capacity in compounding, filling and assembly
Determine labor requirements necessary to achieve the daily schedule
Effectively transition accurate information between shifts
Miscellaneous
Actively participate in pilot and line trial runs
Provide relief coverage for the Filling Manager
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Two years college or technical school or a minimum one year in manufacturing supervision or technical support role
