    Role Summary

    Are you passionate about optimizing and streamlining software development processes? Do you have a deep understanding of the tools that support the work of engineering (like GitHub, DataDog, and Sentry) along with a knack for identifying and implementing tools that enhance platform operations?

    We are seeking a talented Platform Tooling Specialist to join our Platform Tooling Team and play a pivotal role in improving our development workflows and ensuring the reliability and performance of our platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, configuring, and optimizing tools such as GitHub and DataDog to support our global engineering team's software development and monitoring efforts.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. GitHub Expertise: * Manage and configure GitHub access, repositories, organizations, and permissions to ensure efficient code collaboration and version control. * Support teams to leverage best practices for branching strategies, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. * Provide guidance and support to development teams on using GitHub effectively.
    2. DataDog Mastery: * Guide teams in DataDog monitoring and observability tools to track the performance and health of our applications and infrastructure. * Create example dashboards and alerts in DataDog so that teams can learn to proactively identify and address issues. * Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and optimize system performance based on DataDog insights.
    3. Tooling Evaluation and Implementation: * Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies that can enhance our platform operations, development workflows, and monitoring capabilities. * Lead the implementation and integration of selected tools, ensuring they align with our business objectives. * Assess and monitor existing toolsets, with a focus on efficiency optimizations.
    4. Documentation and Training: * Create clear and comprehensive documentation for our toolset configurations, workflows, and best practices. * Provide training and support to team members to ensure they can leverage these tools effectively.
    5. Collaboration: * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, DevOps engineers, and IT operations, to drive improvements and efficiencies in our development and monitoring processes. * Act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and assistance to team members.

    Who You Are (Skills and Qualifications)

    • 4+ years relevant experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Proven experience and expertise in source control, including organizational administration, repository management, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines. We use GitHub.
    • Strong proficiency in observability tooling, with the ability to set up monitoring, alerts, and dashboards effectively. We use DataDog.
    • Familiarity with other development and DevOps tools, such as Jira, Docker, and Kubernetes.
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) ways of working, processes, tooling.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and tools in the DevOps and software development landscape.
    • You get excited about automating repetitive tasks and reducing the number of steps in a task.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

    • You're a tool builder, and a force multiplier with a proven track record of making things easier for others.
    • Experience in implementing best security practices for technologies such as SAML, OAuth, OpenID.

    • Understanding of Agile and Scrum Frameworks.

    The anticipated base salary range for this position is $83,500 to $125,500. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
