A Summer Internship with Purpose

Our 11-week, paid summer internship program provides you with opportunities for learning and personal development, networking, and engagement with our leadership teams. Based in San Francisco, New York City, or Toronto (but operating virtually until it is safe to be back in our offices), you’ll feel accepted from day 1, included, and a part of our community. You’ll gain hands-on experience and exposure within your discipline and team while making real contributions, receiving mentorship, and learning from constructive feedback. Whether it's wrangling big data or writing code for our app, your work contributes to our company’s overall success, impacting the lives of millions.

My Impact as a WW Data Science Intern

• Gain experience working with rich, large-scale member data from millions of daily active users.
• Develop insight in working with data across many business domains, product, growth, eCommerce, finance, and marketing.
• Learn the ropes of our machine learning framework, aiding your work in creating feature pipelines, optimizing model hyper-parameters, and deploying models into production.
• Receive mentoring from our team of “full-stack” data scientists, and participate in end-to-end data science projects from exploratory data analysis to member-facing feature APIs.
• Design AB tests to evaluate the efficacy of your models and work to publish the results of their models internally
• Take ownership over the development and improvement of live models in the business which range from NLP-based recommender systems to reinforcement learning for contextual multi-armed bandits

Educational Requirements & Desired Skills

• Effective communication and data visualization skills for translating complex topics to a non-technical audience
• Critical eye for identifying and solving issues.
• A collaborative approach to sharing your ideas and feedback with the team
• Experience working with Python and SQL to develop machine learning models
• Experience with feature engineering, supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and deep-learning experience is a plus.
• Some familiarity with basic recommendation system approaches and NLP techniques.
• Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another technical discipline with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Graduation date between December 2021 and May 2022
