    The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT within our WESTERN STATES REGION located in the GREATER BAY AREA. This is a remote, field-based position with the location central to the territory being managed which includes San Mateo County, Santa Clara County or Alameda County.

    As the Development Director, you will advance our lifesaving mission through engaging primarily K-12th grade students across schools and districts with Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge. This is a fast-paced fundraising/sales position where you will get to work with hundreds of schools to personalize and bring to life plans to help get kids moving, learning and helping!

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position is directly responsible for meeting an overall fundraising goal of $600,000 (participant income and corporate sponsorship) through exceptional volunteer recruitment and engagement, customer service and account management - ALL WHILE MOTIVATING KIDS TO TAKE THEIR HEALTH TO HEART .

    • Responsible for the sales and service of Youth Market products (Kids Heart Challenge)

    • Manages and promotes Youth Market activities to existing accounts and for the recruitment of new Youth Market sites.

    • Recruits, trains, and motivates volunteers in Youth Market products and services.

    • Drives the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting, and activating an influential and inclusive volunteer leadership base to support the campaign on a sustained basis.

    • Develops and implements year-round pipelines and cultivation plans for sponsorship accounts, ensuring sufficient depth for revenue generation and excellent customer relations.

    • Establishes and maintains superior customer relations with appropriate contacts within Youth Market sites.

    • Acts as the liaison with various sponsoring organizations and groups (i.e. Department of Education, and other professional organizations) to enlist support for new and ongoing efforts aimed at the Youth Market.

    • Performs other duties necessary to meet the responsibilities of this position or as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in progressively responsible outside sales or fund raising position with:

    • A proven track record in meeting sales/fund raising goals.

    • Demonstrated ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment and management.

    • Must possess excellent marketing and communication skills.

    • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within assigned territory. Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance and personal vehicle.

    • Demonstrated ability to work independently during irregular working hours.

    • Highly effective organization, multi-tasking, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to thrive in a results-driven environment.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to manage and report on data utilizing customer relationship management databases.

    • Ability to work productively and efficiently from a home office and in the field consistent with the flexible work arrangements policy.
