    Overview

Part of HeartCorps, an initiative with Public Health AmeriCorps and the American Heart Association.

Gain valuable professional public health experience while advancing more equitable health outcomes for rural communities

HeartCorps, a Public Health AmeriCorps program, seeks to enroll 100 Public Health AmeriCorps members in rural communities to accelerate our work around high blood pressure, nutrition security and smoking cessation. Members will serve on-site at a health center, hospital, public health department or non-profit organization within the rural community.

We are seeking a full-time service member to support this work with a non-profit organization. Full-time service placements require an 11-month commitment, serving 8.25 hours per day, (generally Monday-Friday) for a minimum of 1700 hours that may include some evenings and weekend hours.

  • About Us

The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. We fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies, and provide critical tools and information to save and improve lives.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

The size and scope of our organization, along with our more than 40 million volunteers and supporters, allows us to make a real impact on our shared focus of cardiovascular and overall health.
