    The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets of event planning and implementation, volunteer management, and community outreach. It will offer experience in the use of current business and development technologies, including the use of a computer and software applications. Our internships offer the opportunity to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization, further develop communication and presentation skills, and experience skills in team collaboration and customer service.

    INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

    • Time Commitment: 20 hours per week

    • Internship Duration: 1/17/2023 – 5/5/2023

    • Intern must be based in SAVANNAH, GA, HILTON HEAD, SC, or immediate surrounding area

    INTERNSHIP OUTCOMES:

    Responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, programming and logistics for events including the Southern Coast Heart Ball and the Savannah Go Red for Women Luncheon.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    TASKS COULD INCLUDE THINGS LIKE THE FOLLOWING:

    • Event planning and logistics

    • Assistance in contacting businesses for participation in events and donations

    • Assistance with developing event materials

    • Event communications (i.e., newsletters, emails)

    • Volunteer Management

    • Database management assistance

    • Office support

    • Auction management

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in marketing, sales, event planning or event management

    • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

    • Basic knowledge of Canva

    • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

    • Ability to accurately enter important data

    • Strong time management skills

    • Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.

    • Excellent oral, written and electronic communication

    • Excellent attention to detail

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities

    • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
