The Bonus Calculation team is a core aspect of the MAGIC program that ensures Amway Business Owners are compensated for their efforts. This team is currently working to modernize the calculation engine and other business processes running in a monolith with modern, scalable, and independently deployable microservices built with Java and Spring.
The team practices the Agile software delivery methodology and works with team members across the globe.
How would an intern contribute to the team’s success:
An intern working with this team would directly contribute to the modernization/future state efforts in Amway where they would be exposed to a variety of technologies and methodologies utilized by the team, such as Java, Spring, Kafka, Oracle, AWS, Agile, and Microservice architecture, etc. In addition, the intern would assist with research and implementation of solutions that fulfill the needs of internal stakeholders/Amway Business Owners (ABOs) while working with other developers to deliver quality and consistent work.
An example of a typical project would be:
A typical project would focus on supporting and improving the calculation engine, Kafka events, and other initiatives the team supports. Most work is currently focused on improving application reliability and decreasing resource utilization through reverse engineering, processes research, and rewriting of applications with modern technologies.
