Tentative Internship Job Title: Domestic Tax Internship

What is special about this team:

The Corporate Tax Department is responsible for tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax planning for Amway’s worldwide organization. The Domestic team focuses on all Federal, State, and Local compliance including areas related to income tax, excise tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and tax credits.

As an intern for the Domestic tax team, you will join a team comprised of dedicated, talented, and proactive individuals and report to the Manager of Corporate Tax. These individuals, CPAs and non-CPAs, handle a wide range of tax issues – including providing support to various Departments in the organization, gathering data and supporting documentation for tax audits, preparing tax returns and maintaining tax records. We are also doing cool things with technology and we have a great atmosphere for teamwork and collaboration.

How would an intern contribute to the team’s success:

This position will have a direct impact in creating positive economic outcomes for the company and its shareholders. The compliance and planning projects will help identify opportunities for optimized US tax positions in alignment with existing tax code. The projects will help drive efficiencies through standardizing processes with the use of technology.

An example of a typical project is:

Projects are focused on assisting the tax department with various tax compliance and planning projects. An intern will prepare company federal, state, and local income tax return calculations, assist in the preparation of information to support federal and state tax audits, handle federal and state tax notices, and focus on tax accounting during certain quarter reporting periods. An intern will also work on various projects identified throughout the year, such as research on federal and state tax issues and analysis of tax reform, amongst others.

This position will also support the continued improvement of tax department processes, procedures, and technology solutions.

What skills and background will be important to be successful in this internship?

Desired Skills: Finance or Accounting major preferred. Proficient with Office tools (Excel, Access etc.), Alteryx and Tableau a plus. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, using developed time management skills. Strong analytical and communications skills as well as the ability to perform research and draw conclusions

Desired Degree: BBA (focus in Finance, Accounting or Tax) or Masters degree (MST or MSA)
