Risk Management & Underwriting Internship (Undergraduate & Graduate)

Start date: June 5, 2023
Locations: This program has positions available at multiple office locations across the country and offers the flexibility of working 2-3 days in the office (hybrid arrangement). These locations offer you the opportunity to work in offices that have fellow underwriting professionals. Should you accept a position in this program, we will take your preferred office location into consideration and will attempt to accommodate it. Your final work location will be shared with you closer to your start date.
Office locations with program participants and/or a larger cohort of underwriters include: CT - Hartford, PA - Blue Bell, GA - Atlanta, NE - Omaha, CA – Concord

What you will do:
Price new and existing business with the goal of selling and retaining profitable customers
Act as a strategic partner to support overall management of your book of business
Work with internal partners in sales and account management to negotiate pricing, create benefit plan designs and cross sell additional products/programs in support of our customers
Collaborate with actuarial to refine pricing based on changes in future medical costs, trends and customer specific data
Participate in leadership development opportunities such as networking, solution-focused business projects and career coaching and feedback.
PAY RANGE
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 17.00
Maximum: 27.16
Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Have leadership experience. Examples may include project leadership, workplace responsibilities, active roles in student/social organization activities, or sports
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word or experience with coding software such as VBA, R, or Python
Proven written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate strong academic performance
Possess strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills
Be resourceful and possess the ability to adapt to change
Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role. This includes participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.
EDUCATION
You should currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Preferred majors in the following related degrees, Risk Management & Insurance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics
Have an anticipated graduation date between September 2023 and August 2024
