    Janssen Scientific Affairs (JSA), LLC, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for multiple summer interns at the Titusville, NJ, Horsham, PA, or virtual location.     The following summer intern positions are offered by the inhouse Real-World Value & Evidence team within Janssen Scientific Affairs LLC.  

    The Real-World Value & Evidence (RWV&E) team mission is to build scientific strategy, evidence generation, and dissemination plans to support market access activities The Internship Program is focused on providing graduate students with practical experience in advanced analytics and market access scientific support. 

    Opportunities are available in the following areas: 

    REAL WORLD RESEARCH– located in Titusville, NJ.  

    The RWV&E organization is focused on meeting the needs of our value-driven healthcare system by using high-quality research activities to assess the value of Janssen’s products and services through real world evidence generation, advanced analytics, and external partnering.  This team of tenured researchers is responsible for building industry-leading capabilities across pharmaceutical scientific and commercial functions, working closely with colleagues in Data Sciences, Medical Affairs, Health Economics, Market Access, Epidemiology and other evidence-generating functions and external thought leaders.  Using real-world data from health claims, electronic health records and other sources, the team develops innovative observational study designs and employs advanced analytics to better understand the effectiveness of pharmaceutical interventions, patient journey and disease burden. 

    Intern role: 

    The RWV&E summer intern will work with the Real-world Research team and focus on preparation/execution of study protocols and statistical analysis plans, literature reviews, data analysis and summary, and peer-reviewed scientific publication preparation. In addition, the intern will have the following opportunities: 

    • Collaborate with data scientists to gain familiarity with statistics, epidemiology and advanced analytical tools by utilizing large, secondary databases. 
    • Understand the value and role of real world evidence generation in our current healthcare system and in payer negotiations 
    • Gain familiarity with Janssen therapeutic areas, such as cardiovascular disease, oncology, neuroscience, metabolic health, immunology and infectious disease.  
    • Develop competency in the analysis and interpretation of real world data 
    • Develop scientific writing skills 
    • Prepare and conduct presentations on scientific and outcomes research   
    • Gain familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry 
    • Preferred Majors Targeted: Graduate students in biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, psychology, computer science, data science, public health or related fields.

      

    JANSSEN SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS OPERATIONS & MEDICAL INFORMATION CONTACT CENTER – Location Remote 

    The JSA Operations team partner with JSA scientific staff to drive the coordination of activities necessary to meet cross-Therapeutic Area operational objectives and timelines (e.g., HCC reviews, contracting, budget tracking, etc.), including interacting with associated systems (Totality, Gensight PMT, Sharepoint, ICD/Icertis, eMarketplace, Aravo, Ariba). This is a key interface role to ensure compliance with company and departmental policies and processes, primarily in the area of contracting/procurement, financial budgeting, and health care compliance review. 

    Intern role: 

    Recruiting for undergrad university intern to gain experience in operational support in various process improvement initiatives. Operational support in various contact center process improvement initiatives. This candidate would have an interest in gaining Pharmaceutical industry experience, including project management, experience with IT systems, and designing project plans and training documents for the Janssen Scientific Affairs department. 

    • Assist with development of interdisciplinary job aids and training/guidance documents to be leveraged across the JSA organization 
    • Identify process improvement and operational efficiencies in an effort to streamline project tracking Improve Excel based project intake forms 
    • Work across multiple project owners to reconcile project status and improve documentation Organize central repository for “Operations Tool Kit”

     

    REAL WORLD VALUE AND EVIDENCE, NEUROSCIENCE – Location Remote 

    In the current environment of U.S. healthcare with a prominent focus placed on efficiency and affordability, ensuring patient access to innovative treatments is of utmost importance, but increasingly challenging. In this challenging environment, the Real-World Value & Evidence (RWV&E) organization must ensure we obtain robust payer insights, deliver unrivaled value evidence, be payer-centric, execute timely real world data analytics, and develop flawless and impactful communication of the value of Janssen's innovations for payers and society. 

    Intern role:

    In this role, you could expect to gain experiences and have responsibilities in the following areas as a member of the RWV&E team: 

    • Understand the pharmaceutical industry organization   
    • Recognize the value and role of real-world evidence generation (e.g. health economic and outcomes research) in modern healthcare 
    • Gain competency in review and analysis of scientific literature  
    • Develop medical writing and data interpretation skills  
    • Prepare and conduct presentations to internal stakeholders 
    • Verbally communicate economic and clinical research findings to various cross-functional teams 
    • Participate in observational research projects 
    • Work within a team to identify and fill existing gaps in scientific evidence or business needs. 
    • Preferred fields are Public Health, Health Services Research, Economics, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Data Sciences, Pharmacy, or related fields.

     

    JANSSEN SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS REAL WORLD VALUE & EVIDENCE - MULTIPLE MYELOMA THERAPEUTIC AREA– Located in Horsham, PA 

    Janssen Scientific Affairs (JSA), a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Summer Intern to work in the Real-World Value & Evidence (RWV&E) team. The internship opportunity will support the multiple myeloma therapeutic area at the Horsham, PA office.  RWV&E is comprised of Market Access Scientific strategists (MAx) with the mission to deliver real-world evidence to a variety of U.S. stakeholders in healthcare, including patients, providers, and payers.  One area of focus is the generation and communication of clinical and economic evidence to payers, which supports informed decision-making on the value and use of treatments in Janssen’s North America Pharmaceuticals portfolio.   

    Intern role:

    Each intern will be exposed to the RWV&E area to:  

    • Understand the pharmaceutical industry organization   
    • Recognize the value and role of real-world evidence generation (e.g. health economic and outcomes research) in modern healthcare 
    • Gain competency in review and analysis of scientific literature  
    • Develop medical writing skills

    2022 REAL-WORLD MARKET ACCESS ANALYTICS – Located in Titusville, NJ 

    The Real-World Market Access Analytics (RWMAA) team is focused on meeting the needs of our value-driven healthcare system by using high-quality research activities to assess the value of Janssen’s products and services through real world evidence generation, advanced analytics, and external partnering. This team of tenured researchers is responsible for building industry-leading capabilities across pharmaceutical scientific and commercial functions and external thought leaders. Using real-world data from health claims, electronic health records and other sources, the team develops innovative advanced analytics to better understand the effectiveness of pharmaceutical interventions and market access. 

    Intern role: 

    The RWMAA summer intern will work with the market access analytics team and focus on advanced analytics, machine learning, predictive modeling and dashboard building. In addition, the intern will have the following opportunities: 

    • Understand the value and role of real-world data analytics and evidence generation within the landscape of our current healthcare system and in insurance/payer negotiations 
    • Collaborate with data scientists to gain familiarity with statistics, epidemiology and advanced analytical tools by utilizing large, secondary databases. 
    • Gain familiarity with Janssen therapeutic areas, such as cardiovascular disease, oncology, neuroscience, metabolic health, immunology and infectious disease.  
    • Gain familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry 
    • Majors Targeted: Graduate or advanced undergraduate students in the fields of data sciences, computer sciences, health economics, epidemiology, health outcomes/services research, health policy, public health, population health, or related fields.

     

    JANSSEN SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS REAL WORLD VALUE & EVIDENCE - PULMONARY HYPERTENSION – Located in Titusville, NJ or Remote 

    The RWV&E is comprised of Market Access Scientific strategists (MAx) with the mission to deliver real-world evidence to a variety of U.S. stakeholders in healthcare, including patients, providers, and payers.  One area of focus is the generation and communication of clinical and economic evidence to payers, which supports informed decision-making on the value and use of treatments in Janssen’s North America Pharmaceuticals portfolio.   

    Intern role:

    Each intern will be exposed to the RWV&E area to:  

    • Understand the pharmaceutical industry organization 
    • Recognize the value and role of real-world evidence generation (e.g. health economic modelling and outcomes research) in the US healthcare system 
    • Gain competency in review and analysis of scientific literature 
    • Strengthen medical writing skills 
    • Prepare and conduct presentations to internal teams 
    • Learn how to effectively communicate economic and clinical research findings to various cross-functional teams 
    • Participate in observational research projects

     

    REAL-WORLD VALUE & EVIDENCE VACCINES  – Located in Titusville, NJ 

    The Real-World Value & Evidence (RWV&E) team mission is to build scientific strategy, evidence generation, and dissemination plans to support market access activities. The Internship Program is focused on providing graduate students with practical experience in advanced analytics and market access scientific support. 

    Intern role: 

    • Be assigned a specific question in vaccines to solve by applying data science methodologies 
    • Assist with activities associated with ongoing development of market access strategies in support of authorized and pipeline vaccines 
    • Participate in ongoing project team meetings including slide preparation for updates and identified issues 
    • Be exposed to various other functions within the larger RWV&E group

     

    REAL-WORLD VALUE & EVIDENCE IMMUNOLOGY – Location Remote 

    RWV&E is comprised of Market Access Scientific strategists (MAx) with the mission to deliver real-world evidence to a variety of U.S. stakeholders in healthcare, including patients, providers, and payers.  One area of focus is the generation and communication of clinical and economic evidence to payers, which supports informed decision-making on the value and use of treatments in Janssen’s North America Pharmaceuticals portfolio.   

    Intern role: 

    Each intern will be exposed to the RWV&E area to:  

    • Understand the pharmaceutical industry organization   
    • Recognize the value and role of real-world evidence generation (e.g. health economic and outcomes research) in modern healthcare 
    • Gain competency in review and analysis of scientific literature  
    • Develop medical writing skills  
    • Prepare and conduct presentations to internal stakeholders 
    • Verbally communicate economic and clinical research findings to various cross-functional teams 
    • Participate in observational research projects

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent resident 
    • Be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) 
    • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution pursuing an undergraduate / graduate (Masters, MBA, PharmD, PhD, MPH) degree. Must not be a Freshman or a Senior graduating prior to program end date (Seniors must be willing/allowed to extend graduation date) 
    • Preferred Majors are:  Health Economics, Life Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Policy, Biomedical Sciences, Health Services research, Data Sciences, Computer Science,  Population Health, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Advanced Analytics or pursuing a medical or pharmacy degree. 
    • A minimum 3.0 GPA is required. 
    • Be available to work full time (up to 40 hours) starting in May or June 2022 through August 2022, for at least 10 weeks. 
    • Candidates must be able to provide their own transportation to the work location. 
    • Housing assistance may be provided based on the opportunity.

      

    Preferences: 

    • Be familiar with study design in observational research and parametric/non-parametric statistical methods (eg, generalized linear models, Kaplan-Meier survival estimates).   
    • Skilled in any of the following SAS, R, Python, Tableau SPSS, MatLab, or other similar programming language or tool expertise. 
    • Highly proficient in MS office suite and Sharepoint 
    • Have good communication skills and a strong interest in health economics/pharmacoeconomics, outcomes research, real-world evidence, and pharmaceutical industry 
    • Possess strong oral and written communication skills.  
    • Display a detail-oriented, highly organized mindset and able to manage multiple tasks 
    • Work independently as well as on a team 
    • Strong planning and tracking skills, capable of managing multiple projects, excellent time management with respect to priorities. 
    • Can demonstrates leadership skills in a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, and for effective interactions with all levels of the organization. 
    • Exhibits strong analytical skills for integrating and interpreting interdisciplinary project information. Problem-solving skills with experience developing creative solutions to maintain project timelines.   
    • Gain competency in review and analysis of scientific literature  
    • Strengthen medical writing skills  
    • Prepare and conduct presentations to internal teams  
    • Learn how to effectively communicate economic and clinical research findings to various cross-functional teams
