We are seeking an experienced NUTRITIONIST or LICENSED DIETICIAN to join an established Internal Medicine practice located in ADDISON, TEXAS. This position will assist the physician with evaluating patients' nutritional needs, providing nutritional counseling and advice to patients, and administering a low carb/Keto nutrition plan prescribed by the physician. Heavy focus on patients with diabetes and/or geriatric. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluating a patient’s nutritional needs.
- Providing nutritional counseling and nutritional advice to patients who want to lose weight, add muscle or achieve other nutrition-related goals.
- Clarifying information to patients and explaining the effects of nutrients on overall health condition.
- Creating a clinical nutritional treatment plan for patients based on physician direction.
- Educating the patients and public on nutrition issues. Set clear objectives and provide support to patients to help them in their progress.
- Understands low carbohydrate diets, ketogenic diets, fasting and intermittent fasting programs.
- Consulting with a team of healthcare practitioners on nutritional management for a patient.
- Sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly.
- Entering patient information into patient chart.
- Utilizes and enters data in to EMR systems.
- Managing patient consultation calendar.
- Answer and return calls to patients and providing pertinent information.
- Assisting with marketing nutritional program to include contributing social media content, writing blog posts, and creating tools to share with patients and prospective patients. .
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
- Attend required meetings and participates in training programs as required.
- Understand and adhere to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to ensure and maintain patient confidentiality.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in nutritional science, dietetics or relevant field.
- Licensed dietician preferred.
- 2+ years' experience as a professional nutritionist or dietician preferred, but not required.
- Understanding of diabetic nutrition and working with seniors a plus.
- Active listener skilled in suggesting personalized solutions.
- Willing and able to follow nutrition plan prescribed by the supervising physician.
- Excellent verbal and presentation skills. Caring and compassionate.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required. e-Clinical Works preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
