    Sonepar USA is seeking a Compliance and Legal Policy Process Specialist to work remotely or out of their U.S. headquarters in Charleston, SC (preferred). This individual will work closely with and report directly to the Associate General Counsel responsible for management of litigation, compliance, policies and procedures, and third-party due diligence.  This individual will be a member of, and work closely with, the entire Sonepar USA Legal Team. 

     

    MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND KEY ATTRIBUTES:

    The ideal candidate is a polished professional with the ability to think creatively, work in a fast-paced environment, and exercise judgment and discretion with highly confidential information.  Intellectual curiosity, a team mindset, strong organizational skills, and a can-do attitude are essential to this position.

     

    TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Assist Legal and Compliance team in implementing Compliance Risk Management Framework.
    • Responsible for day-to-day operation of third-party risk management process, including conducting and reviewing business partner due diligence, responding to inquiries from the field, and acting as primary liaison with database service provider and internal stakeholders.
    • Assist in drafting and / or review of compliance- and control-related Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Review and revise compliance policies and recommend additional processes and procedures, as necessary.
    • Responsible for management of litigation service database, including maintaining internal tracking system and communicating with stakeholders as necessary.
    • Assist with case management and reporting on various litigation matters.
    • Draft documents, conduct research, prepare correspondence, and work effectively with internal and external business partners.

    • Team player with a can-do attitude and willingness to contribute to larger projects as needed, including subpoena responses, document review, pleadings, commercial agreements, commercial contracting processes, deal flow, and transactional due diligence.

    • Self-starter and a willingness to take on all responsibilities to get the job done.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Two-four years of experience in roles similar to any of the following: project management, analyst, paralegal (or similar legal role), compliance specialist/analyst. 
    • Specific legal experience is not required.  Experience using third-party risk management database a plus.
    • Knowledge of anti-corruption regulations, KYC standards, OFAC and export control regulations a plus.
    • Applicants should have a willingness to learn and experience prioritizing tasks and managing projects.
    • High level verbal and written communicator with strong research and writing skills.
    • Demonstrate an ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
    • Must be highly organized and able to work on multiple projects at the same time.
    • Proven ability to assist in the movement of projects through a corporate organization.
    • Display strong interpersonal skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant technology.

    • Must take Start Fresh training, as well as implement all safety aspects of Start Fresh training
    • Must be able to work and tolerate temperatures ranging from 0 to 120 degrees
    • Must comply with all Health Department, ServSafe, and Dollywood Company regulations pertaining to safe food handling practices
