    (Ethicon), a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting an (Assistant Information Designer).  (The Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices (JJMDC) Industrial Design & Human Factors (IDHF) organization is seeking an exceptionally talented, multi-faceted Assistant Information Designer who is passionate about crafting clarity for complex business challenges and creating compelling user experiences that improve the quality of people’s lives).

     

    The IDHF organization is responsible for user-centered aspects of new product development, and partners across business functions to bring solutions to market. We immerse ourselves in the users’ environment; use the design process to organize complex information in an actionable way; leverage technology, human factors, and creativity to illuminate the possibilities; and test with end users to refine concepts until the best solution is achieved. We are a global, collaborative team, dedicated to improving patient outcomes by delivering exceptional user experiences to healthcare professionals.

     

    This position is located in Cincinnati, OH and may require up to 20% travel domestically and internationally).

     

    The (Assistant Information Designer) will:

    • Use principles of user-centered design thinking to guide problem solving.
    • Synthesize and shape large amounts of information to drive understanding for internal team members and external partners.
    • Create frameworks for organizing and analyzing information in ways that makes management of them efficient and effective.
    • Improve the flow of information between stakeholders by creating communication that aids in understanding and drives decision-making.
    • Contribute to the creation and governance of team and company standards and best practices.
    • Manage the workload and scheduling of deliverables for their program(s) with manager oversight.
    • Create and build relationships within IDHF and across business project teams.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing (a bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Design or Visual/Graphic Communication Design.
    • Candidate also must have an Interaction Design focus or Interaction Design experience.
    • Candidates must be available to work (Full-time).
    • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future. 
    • Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
    • Candidates must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
    • Candidates must have an understanding of user-centered design principles, methodologies, best practices, and approaches; particularly as applied to information visualization for static and interactive environments.
    • Candidates must have the ability to identify patterns, connections, discrepancies, and narratives not immediately apparent, and format the information into maps or workflows that will guide the overall design process.
    • Candidates must have experience applying/translating customer insights to deliver intuitive, user-centered experiences to customers/stakeholders.
    • Candidates need to be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and current Design Software (Adobe Creative Cloud and Diagramming tools), and have strong oral and written communication skills (with strong interpersonal and critical-thinking skills), including the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
    • A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
    • Experience and passion for design of healthcare-related solutions is preferred.
    • Demonstrated leadership is preferred.
    • Participation in campus/community service activities is desired.
