    Program Assistant Abyssinian Development Corporation 6 reviews - New York, NY 10030 $18 an hour - Temporary JOB STATEMENT/SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator is responsible for supervising the daily operation and summer staff for the Summer Program. S/he is also responsible for maintaining the flow of the days activities; ensure safety of all summer camp participants that are on the premises; and maintain consistent communication with the Executive Director and Assistant Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: * Assist Executive Director and Assistant Director with program administration and management. * Collect and input all program data (student information, daily attendance, NYCHA data, and summer camp outcomes). * Assist Executive Director and Assistant Director in adhering to all grant provider expectations by managing required paperwork for the purpose of submitting upon due dates. * Help develop improved management methods and organized structures for data collection. * Print and distribute daily attendance sheets for each summer camp activity. * Supervise summer camp transitions snack, program activities, and dismissal. * Ensure that all students sign in when arriving and sign out before leaving the building for the day. * Understand, adhere to, and enforce summer program expectations, policies and procedures. * Model positive and responsible behaviors through actions and interactions. * Set and adhere to a standard of high expectations for summer camp participants, self, and other staff. * Support the Executive Director and Assistant Director, activity specialists, and other staff in the planning and execution of special activities and events. * Assist in overseeing and planning summer camp trips * Share highlights, suggestions, issues, and concerns with the Executive Director and Assistant Director. * Complete and submit incident reports as needed. * Attend and participate in all summer camp orientations, open houses, and presentations. * Attend internal and external meetings, trainings and workshops as designated by the Executive Director and Assistant Director. * Create flyers, letters, announcements, newsletters to come home for parent communications. OTHER DUTIES: * Help to maintain established standards of sanitation to ensure food is served hygienically, ensure foods taste good and look appealing.

    • Help to ensure that food is stored properly, supplies stored in appropriate areas, storage room is kept neat, clean and locked. * Observes eating habits of children in the lunchroom/cafeteria. * Assists in identifying which foods children favor in planning menus Supervisory Responsibility: Summer Program Youth Counselors Principle Contacts: Executive Director, Assistant Director, children, families and Youth On The Move staff and ADC staff. Physical/Sensory Skills: Ability to lift 40 pounds and stand for long period of times. Work Site: Youth On The Move In The Community 669 Malcolm X Blvd, New York, NY 10037 Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00 am 6:00 pm) (hours are flexible) Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or current college/graduate student in good academic standing at an accredited college/university Experience: 2 years experience working with youth preferably middle school and/or elementary aged children in a summer camp setting. Specific Skills: * Experience creating activities, agendas, and/or curriculum is preferred * Experience in data management for large populations, strongly preferred * Strong interpersonal, verbal, creative, writing, communication, and organizational skills * Ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing environment * Ability to maintain a patient, enthusiastic and flexible attitude * Ability to work in a team oriented environment and handle multiple tasks * Excellent grasp of basic reading, writing and math skills * Light computer skills in MS Word and Excel * Strong presentation skills and ability to represent the program * Ability to engage children and parents creatively and positively * Understands youth-centered and positive youth development approach to programming.
