    The ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE CLERK is responsible for addressing and resolving insurance claims that are unpaid. This is accomplished by contacting insurance companies, by phone or via the web, to get additional information on why medical claims were denied or remain unpaid and determine the best course of action to resolve the denied or unpaid claim. The ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE CLERK is responsible for the day-to-day processing of assigned unpaid insurance claims. This includes the timely review of insurance Accounts Receivable and recommendations for reprocessing or adjustment to the client. The ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE CLERK demonstrates successful appeal responses to third-party payers concerning medical claim denials. This individual works with the Accounts Receivable Manager, Team Leader and Business Analyst to reduce or eliminate denials.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the accurate processing and completion of medical claim denials and appeals
    • Work according to Standard Operating Procedures
    • Proficiency in insurance standards and claims processing.
    • Process correspondence and requests for reconsideration within standard time frames
    • Write accurate and effective appeal letters to insurance companies on denied claims
    • Adhere to strict compliance standards
    • Demonstrate increasing productivity to meet minimum requirements while maintaining quality standards
    • Escalates issues to their Team Leader or Manager appropriately
    • Special projects as required

  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
    • 1+ years of working experience with Microsoft Tools: Word (creating memos, writing), Outlook (setting calendar appointments, email) and Excel (creating spreadsheets, filtering, navigating reports)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 1+ years of Medical Insurance Billing experience OR completion of a Billing Certificate program
    • Technical knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes and how they impact claims processing
