ACCOUNTING MANAGER
The Accounting Manager is key member of the Accounting Team providing critical leadership and support for the Controller. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the company's accounting function and related processes and controls. This includes ensuring accurate and timely monthly closes, preparation of financial reports, journal entries, reconciliations and the supervision of team members involved in these processes. The Accounting Manager ensures adherence to the company's accounting policies and internal controls.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage the month-end close process, ensuring an accurate and timely close.
- Prepare and reconcile month-end financial statements and reports.
- Supervise accounting staff, providing review, guidance and support to ensure financial accuracy as well as develop staff competency.
- Oversee the monthly preparation and review of GL account reconciliations.
- Assist with the coordination and support of annual financial statement audits and tax work.
- Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Assist in development and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Provide support as needed for budget and forecasting activities.
- Provide support and leadership for departmental projects and company initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- 6-8 years of professional accounting experience through a combination of corporate accounting, public accounting and/or audit.
- 1-2 years of Accounting Manager experience in $200M+ company
- Experience in an ERP environment required (SAP a plus).
- Solid competency in accounting close procedures and related best practices
- Strong GAAP knowledge and awareness
- Strong competency in Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage to deadlines.
- Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion.
- Knowledge of related accounting processes such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll.
- Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and discretion appropriately.
- Knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and typical software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
