Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, or "CRMC", is a 25-bed, non-profit, critical access hospital serving Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma since 1949. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the needs of the Department and consistently supports the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
JOB DUTIES
- Deliver great patient care with compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families
- Answer patient calls and determine how best to help them
- Obtain a wide range of information from practitioners, caregivers, and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities, including plan of care
- Provide physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising
- Turning and repositioning bedridden patients
- Ensuring patients receive an appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences
- Measure and record food and liquid intake and any urinary and fecal output; report changes to medical or nursing staff
- Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including but not limited to open wounds, bruising, or blood in urine or stool
- Monitor patients throughout their treatment
- Perform routine checks of patient’s vital signs as scheduled and report abnormalities to licensed nursing staff
- Liaise with patient families
- Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
- Complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Notify ward clerk or monitor tech of needed supplies for the department
- Assist with maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of department
- Prepares necessary documentation and charting for patients
- Greet patients and visitors
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
- Ability to maintain quality control standards
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations, as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BLS, required
- 1-2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting, preferred
- CNA licensure, preferred
