Job Summary
This UMMS residency will allow an individual to observe, learn and engage as a member of the corporate executive team. The position requires involvement in strategic planning, performance improvement, project leadership and project management. He/she will have the opportunity to work on and lead projects at the UMMS Corporate Office as well as system hospitals.
Primary Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.
• Observe executive leaders in decision-making meetings, project meetings and strategy review sessions.
• Learn new skills in business plan development, performance improvement, project management, and financial feasibility studies.
• Perform strategic analysis to support the implementation of UMMS Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Contribute towards the strategic development of the UMMS strategic initiatives.
• Proposed areas of learning include:
o Performance improvement/ project management
o Population health initiatives
o Business plan development
o Implementation and optimization all UMMS Strategic Priorities
• Gain exposure to the University of Maryland Medical System corporate structure by attending system wide planning meeting(s).
• Develop project management skills through aiding the implementation of process improvement initiatives.
• Perform strategic analyses to support the feasibility and return on investment of all strategic investments and opportunities, including supporting the implementation of those approved.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education & Experience - Required
• Second year student studying Master of Health Administration, in Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Education & Experience - Preferred
• Membership in an outside healthcare professional organization, such as the American College of Healthcare Executives, is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Demonstrated proficiency with the use of Access, Excel, WordPerfect, PowerPoint, or other spreadsheet and graphics software applications required.
• Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills used in the classroom.
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively. Ability to learn quickly and work efficiently. Ability to self-initiate.
• Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management skills, and organization skills.
• Demonstrates professionalism, a sense of responsibility, and career ambition.

Compensation:
Pay Range: $26.14-$36.59
