    JOB SUMMARY:  Under general direction, coordinates project planning and implementation. Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team and with other stakeholders and partners to successfully plan and execute a project for the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium Community Health Services and ensures that all tasks are completed on schedule.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Oversees the day-to-day management of all activities related to a public health promotion project including project planning, development and implementation. Coordinates the project team and external stakeholder, partner agencies and project advisory groups throughout the duration of the project and adheres to the project schedule to ensure timely completion of all project activities and logistics.

    Recognizes behavioral health issues and provides general information to project participants and the community that incorporates that recognition, and if necessary, advocate for participant’s needs and rights. Along the primary job responsibilities, interfaces with other health service providers and staff to provide coordinated planning and services for project participants. Demonstrates an understanding of the professional boundaries and models appropriate professional behavior within the community.

    Tracks the day-to-day activities required to ensure project tasks are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with project goals, departmental policies, and/or the funding agency’s terms and conditions, if applicable.

    Coordinates assigned staff in all aspects of the planning, design and implementation of a large scale public health promotion project. Manages communication channels between all project partners as well as any advisory groups and committees. Serves as the primary contact for internal and external project leads on the assigned project.

    Establishes and maintains effective working relations with stakeholders, partners and advisory groups and committees, if applicable, to facilitate the implementation of all project goals. 

    Works closely with the project manager in the implementation of project scope and objectives as well as in developing project budgets and tracks invoicing as appropriate. Assists in the development of detailed work plans, which include clear milestones and assignment of project task responsibilities and schedules, as well as the collection, analysis and reporting of project data and reports findings and outcomes as requested. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking analysis.

    Communicates all of the requirements and commitments (both verbally and in writing) to the project manager, external partners and other ANTHC staff.

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a health related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION Non-supervisory – Four (4) years of health program or wellness experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION Training or experience specific to worksite program is highly preferred, as is experience with implementation of systems change in worksite settings.

    ADDENDUM TO PROGRAM COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION Substance Misuse Prevention Program Coordinator JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction plan, organize, and/or promote varying events and related program activities; programs, initiatives, trainings, conferences, business meetings, focus groups, and community presentations for Substance Misuse Prevention. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Assists Substance Misuse Prevention Program Manager and the Wellness and Prevention Department in planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion initiatives, programs, services, workshops, and educational opportunities in regards to substance misuse prevention. Applies evidence-based practices, the public health model and the environmental management system to design, implement and evaluate a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to substance misuse prevention. Ability to organize, plan, and oversee culturally relevant events/activities to decrease the negative consequences associated with alcohol and drug use. Applies health promotion theories and harm reduction framework to address substance misuse among youth and young adults throughout Alaska. Develops community partnerships to negotiate event venues, entertainment, speakers, vendors and sponsorships to be able to deliver assistance with prevention programs, grant objectives and messaging regarding substance misuse prevention. Provides written and verbal harm reduction information on substance use and overdose prevention to program participants across sites. Trains community members in overdose prevention and use of Naloxone. Assists Program Manager with grant implementation, evaluation and budget management. Assists community and grant partners with coalition activities, including trainings, surveys, research, programs, and coalition committees support and facilitation, as needed. Meets regularly with and develops, monitors progress, and evaluates coalition action plans. Collaborates with local communities, schools, organizations, health care facilities and various community members and providers, including Tribal Health Organizations, rural Alaska communities, and regional hubs. Travels to rural areas for related Substance Misuse Prevention and other Wellness & Prevention-related activities. Creates and disseminates health-related, culturally responsive, education materials and communications to include flyers, handouts, social media, calendars, and other related publications. Ability to work as a member of a team, collaborate on Substance Misuse Prevention initiatives, and assist other team members as needed. Assists in monitoring and maintaining current program inventory and records. Maintains genuine, respectful and friendly customer service and working relationship skills, in alignment with ANTHC’s Behavioral Standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, human services, counseling, substance misuse/addiction counseling, public health, health promotion or related field.  Knowledge of harm reduction approach and public health model.  Knowledge of substance misuse prevention, treatment and recovery services.  Experience with public speaking.  Experience in group facilitation, community organizing and facilitating collaborative meetings with community partners to coordinate outreach events.  Ability to travel to rural areas and communities throughout Alaska for Substance Misuse Prevention and other Wellness & Prevention-related activities.  Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends and travel to partner sites. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION  Hold an advanced degree (masters or doctoral level) in public health, psychology, social work, counseling, or similar field with experience providing counseling services.  One (1) year experience working with substance use-related or youth-based health programming, including development and coordination of substance misuse prevention, working with schools, community groups and other agencies.  Experience coordinating health-related coalitions.  Training or experience in coordinating grants, grant writing and/or budget management.  Experience creating and disseminating health-related, culturally responsive, education materials and communications to include flyers, handouts, social media, calendars, and other related publications.  Experience working with and training various community members and healthcare providers, including Tribal Health Organizations, rural Alaska communities, and regional hubs.
