    RRD Packaging Solutions Durham is a leading packaging and trading card company in North America, producing educational and healthcare products, as well as collectible trading cards associated with the entertainment and sports industries.

    To keep up with the explosive growth opportunity in the trading card industry, we are in immediate need of a Materials Manager.

    OVERVIEW:

    The Materials Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of the company's goods.  The selected leader will be detail and team oriented with extensive experience and education in materials management.  They will develop and carry-out integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures, including business and technical strategies, goals and objectives.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain
    • Establish performance objectives for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain
    • Develop and maintain detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, at specific sites, and in the factory
    • Maintain the required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production
    • Analyze current inventories and procedures; suggest improvements to increase the efficiency of the supply chain and profitability for the company
    • Develop policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implement changes to processes
    • Identify optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to the consolidation of warehousing and distribution
    • Assess the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; make recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials
    • Negotiate prices for raw materials and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies
    • Participate as advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on the availability and cost of supplies and materials
    • Act as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, and product line extension to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions
    • Monitor the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identify and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with other departments
    • Serve on the Executive Leadership Team for the Durham Packaging operations
    • Available for approximately 10% travel to RR Donnelley Corporate or other facilities

    Required Skills

    • Working knowledge of materials management techniques and processes  e.g. MRP, JIT, MRPll
    • Working knowledge of budgeting methods and systems
    • Working knowledge of best practice leadership, managerial, and supervisory techniques and principles
    • Demonstrated skill in performing detailed work in an accurate and organized manner
    • Effective oral and/or written communication and conflict resolution
    • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, E-Mail and Internet Explorer
    • Ability to communicate across all levels of employees in a manner understandable by most
    • Experience managing a packaging, printing, and label based supply chain is preferred, NOT REQUIRED

    Required Experience

    • 6+ years of experience, four of which are in a supervisory capacity, project management, or functional leadership position in new business implementation
    • 4 Year/Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain Management preferred, NOT REQUIRED

    The national pay range for this role is $87,300 to $153,700 / year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
