    • Certification: The position requires incumbent to be a certified CPA (or the educational equivalent thereof) able to certify participants for the WIC Program. CPA Certification includes: anthropometric, dietary and clinical nutrition assessment and screening of participants for nutrition needs in compliance with established guidelines.
    • File Management: Document pertinent non-medical information in client charts, according to SOAP format. SOAP notes will be completed and entered into the SPIRIT system on a daily basis for clients seen that day. Maintain an accurate filing system for Kodiak and village files.
    • Coordinate WIC Certification Appointments. Manage cancellation list and follow-up on missed appointments. Develop and maintain central calendar system for professional staff.
    • Account for all active and enrolled clients on a weekly basis using the WIC Computer system. Ensure “no shows” by clients are kept to a minimum by following set procedures for certification reminders, termination criteria, follow- up phone calls to patients who miss appointments and mail-out protocols.
    • Application screening and processing: Assist clients in completing applications; assemble charts in preparation for certification.
    • Outreach: Work together with WIC Coordinator to conduct WIC outreach activities in Kodiak and the surrounding remote villages and assesses new participants. Will participate in Health Fairs and other community events (Kodiak and villages) representing the WIC Program as directed.
    • Referrals: Refer recipients to appropriate health and social services as needed.
    • Inventory Control: Manage program supplies and forms. Duplicate forms as required.
    • Continuation Education: Responsible for maintaining CEU requirements of position. Will be expected to attend and participate in period training as needed to maintain certification.
    • General office upkeep: Set-up clinic daily in preparation for receiving clients. Secure necessary files and equipment at the days end according to WIC procedures. Straighten and organize WIC client area at the end of each day.
    • Assist with calls to clients to schedule them for WIC appointments, to remind them of upcoming or same-day appointments
    • Warrant issuance: Issue warrants as required. Enter pertinent client data into computer and update information as required. With cooperation of other WIC Program staff, meet or exceed monthly caseload target set by the funder.
    • Verify income and resident eligibility.

     

     

    Required Skills

     

    Must be certified as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA), or be able to attain certification within 6 months of employment date. May substitute the educational equivalent of a CPA as defined by State of Alaska WIC Policy. Must achieve and maintain Infant Child and Adult CPR certification within 60 days of start date. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One year of health related work experience in clinical environment.
