  • Responsibilities

     

    The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of clinical services to community members and those who have been victims of domestic violence. Clinical services include comprehensive behavioral health assessments, development and ongoing review of treatment plans, transition/discharge planning as well as individual and group counseling sessions.

    Required Skills

     

    • Act as a primary counselor and case manager for victims of domestic violence and clients experiencing emotional, behavioral and addictive behaviors in an outpatient setting.

    • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments and evaluations, problem lists and treatment plans.

    • Conduct individual group and or family counseling sessions in compliance with program standards and client needs.

    • Provide counseling through a variety of treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family therapy that meet behavioral health standards of care.

    • Completes all file documentation, progress notes, invoices, reports and other required data in an accurate and timely manner.

    • Maintain client records in accordance with the Tribe's and Medicaid standards.

    • Follow all grant requirements, including AKAIMS and reporting grant requirements.

    • Actively participate in meetings that support the integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for clients.

    • Attends all staff meetings, staff trainings and provides written reports as required by supervisor.

    • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the program supervisor.

    • Licensed and certified personnel will be held accountable for providing services in accordance with relevant external or internal requirements and education, such as, legislation governing practice; licensure, registration, and certification requirements; professional degrees; professional training to maintain established competency levels; on-the-job training requirements of the program; and professional standards of practice.

     

    Required Experience

     

    • Provider Level 1 must have a high school diploma or GED, minimum of two (2) years of experience as a counselor and certified as a State of Alaska Counselor Level 1.
    • Provider Level 2 must have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health Counseling or related field; CDC II Required.
    • Must have above average communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Must have knowledge of and be willing to comply with HIPAA and 42CFR, Part 2 Regulations.
    • Must have the ability and willingness to follow Policy and Procedures.
    • Must be punctual and neat in personal appearance and attire.
    • Must have a valid Alaska Driver’s License with no DUI or other violations in the past 36 months.
    • Must be willing to travel to and attend functions in locations outside of home community.
    • Must have the ability to deal pleasantly with the general public and fellow employees.
    • Must be willing to attend training and workshops to enhance job performance and knowledge.
    • Must have knowledge of and interested in the Athabascan Culture, as well as a strong understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles.
    • Must be willing to submit to a drug test.
    • Under PL (92-638) Native Preference will be given in the hiring of this position.
