  • Responsibilities

    The family practice physician provider is a candidate for a clinical position with responsibility for providing primary care services at Annette Island Service Unit. This responsibility includes primary care patient encounters, participation in on-call schedule, compliance with regulatory requirements, and participation in quality practices. This is a full-time position, and is directly supervised by the Medical Director.

     

    LEADERSHIP:

    • Maintains consistent interaction with the providers, staff and community
    • Embraces the customer service standards set by the HEW/MIC (community governing boards)

     

    QUALITY:

    • Maintains and enhances the highest standards of health care delivery to all AISU patients
    • Presents reports on health and quality improvement matters as required
    • Participates in AISU peer review and quality improvement process
    • Participates in and supports standards of accreditation as required by AISU’s accrediting body

     

    OPERATIONS:

    • Attends and participates in regular meetings of clinicians and staff
    • Maintains patient electronic health records as required by AISU document policy
    • Assists with and provides consultation and coordination of care with other providers and staff (physician, mid-level, pharmacists, physical therapists, etc.)

     

    CLINICAL:

    • Maintains a patient panel and sees patients in regular clinic schedule reflecting primary care standards and scope of practice
    • Provides emergency assessment, care, and facilitates transport of ED patients requiring higher level of care
    • Participates in the on-call schedule as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Trained in primary care specialty, or other, as approved by Service Unit Director/HEW
    • Current / active licensure in any US state
    • Licensed or license-eligible by the State of Alaska
    • Obtain and maintain an unrestricted license to practice in Alaska within 6 months of hire
    • Proven ability in clinical practice
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to follow projects through to completion
    • Ability to build consensus and work in a team setting
    • Strong conflict management, negotiation and persuasion skills, professional demeanor, attitude, and motivation
    • Applicant will be required to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
    • Applicant will comply with Metlakatla Indian Community personnel policies

    Required Experience

    • Graduate of an accredited US medical school, MD or DO, and Family Medicine residency program (or other area of specialty, as approved by AISU director and governing board)
    • Board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine, or other primary care specialty, with approval from AISU Director and governing board

     

    ANNETTE ISLAND SERVICE UNIT OFFERS A COMPLETE PACKAGE OF SALARY AND BENEFITS TO FULL-TIME EMPLOYED PROVIDERS.

    • Competitive salary, dependent on education and experience, and reflective of salary ranges for SE Alaska for similar position / work environment
