    JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction, serves as a team leader in the implementation and ongoing support of multi-service clinical software applications used in hospitals and clinics for ANMC and ATHS sites as per established agreements. Performs high level, complex, and responsible tasks and generally works with minimum supervision and follow-up from supervisor. The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Provides leadership, direction, and guidance to assigned staff. Develops goals and priorities in conjunction with employees, and assigns tasks and projects. Develops staff skills and training plans. Counsels, trains, and coaches subordinate staff. Implements corrective actions and conducts performance evaluations. Establishes financial, staff and technology requirements, secures funding for department and formulates department strategies, plans and actions to achieve the goals of ATHS, ANTHC and the division. Provides implementation and support for multi-service software packages automating the capture of clinical information and its subsequent retrieval. Addresses integration issues with other software packages and suggests/recommends changes based on previous experience and knowledge. Periodically reviews system setups with each organization/department/customer for accuracy, appropriateness and completeness. Analyzes and diagnoses problems and implements solutions per departmental/organizational procedure. Participates in regular ANMC, ANTHC, and ATHS teams, when it is determined the skills and talents of the incumbent are required. Uses comprehensive knowledge of clinical systems to assist with on-campus and ATHS regional support and or implementation services as required. Works with various information technology, clinical informatics and clinical staff in the efficient use of the software/systems used on the ANMC campus and at ATHS sites as required and requested. Provides training on current software applications as required or requested. Promotes an awareness of the importance of data validity and data security. Assists HIT team members and clinicians in data gathering and analysis. Remains current with regulatory changes impacting clinical applications delivery. Assists organizations/departments/customers with error identification and remediation. Assists in implementation of integrated software systems and provides support on related software modules. Works with programmers, other HIT departments and other sources in testing of software, identifying software problems and requesting enhancements. Logs all incidents and issues into tracking system used in HIT, referring those requiring a specific expertise to the appropriate person or team. May be required to install, configure and update software per established procedures or to develop appropriate procedures. Coordinates process issue identification and process improvement initiatives. Works directly with software vendor to support application as needed. Establishes effective interpersonal relationships with all levels of organization/division/customer personnel. Promotes an atmosphere that encourages enthusiasm and user participation with clinical applications. Creates a positive environment for reporting application and/or system deficiencies and suggestions for system improvements and enhanced functionality. Promotes teamwork, participates as an active member or directs actions of service teams. Understands the mission vision and values and maintains a supportive work environment. Is familiar with the ITIL principles and processes and adheres to established procedures. Incorporates ITIL foundations information into daily work. Must display professional demeanor and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with system users, management and vendors. Monitors, reviews and remains current in healthcare industry software trends. Leads or participates in new initiatives. Actively seeks sources of knowledge regarding new trends in clinical and information systems, is able to apply that knowledge and share knowledge with staff and team members. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION A Master’s degree in Medical Informatics, computer programming, or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION Non-supervisory - Ten (10) years’ experience in clinical applications support in the healthcare industry with proven ability to provide implementation and support to clinical users. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS  According to the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain specific technical certifications.  May be required to participate in rotating call schedule to cover the needs of the customer/users 7 X 24 as determined by supervisor/customer requirements or requests.  May require travel to remote locations.  May be required to work alternative work schedules.  May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.  May occasionally be exposed to hazardous conditions and infectious diseases.  At times, attention to patient care may be required.

    MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Must be able to sit for long periods of time with some standing and lifting.  Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an office setting.  ANMC is not a latex free environment. Therefore, some latex exposure can be expected.
