    JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, the Senior Payroll Specialist will assist the payroll staff, provide routine and advanced payroll functions, to include accurate processing of payroll, automated time-keeping and government reporting.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Assists in the hiring, development, and motivation of ANTHC Payroll staff.

    Ensures accuracy and timeliness of bi-weekly payroll process for entire organization. Reviews and inputs timecards manually and via electronic import into payroll software; ensures required signatures are obtained; completes and posts payroll; prints and distributes paychecks, pay stubs, and other payroll related information.

    Updates and maintains payroll files and databases to reflect personnel payroll changes. Reviews system edit and audit reports each payroll processing and ensures processing errors and messages are resolved before next payroll cycle by taking corrective action; exercising judgment in determining if support from vendor or manager involvement is necessary.

    Prepares governmental bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements (Payroll taxes, workers compensation, W2’s). Assists in the importing and exporting of reports from the accounting and payroll computer programs for processing.  Serves as a backup for reconciling and resolving balance sheet accounts and preparing monthly payroll accruals. 

    Assists employees, timekeepers, and supervisors with timekeeping/payroll software training, payroll issues, and requests for payroll information on a regular basis. Researches payroll issues/discrepancies, and processes necessary corrections.

    Complies with the regulatory standards and policies and procedures of payroll. Works with manager to implement procedural changes as necessary when tax regulations change. Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure personnel payroll changes and cost centers are obtained. Updates and maintains payroll files and databases to reflect personnel payroll changes.

    Assists Division, Department and Program Managers by running complex payroll reports from the payroll computer programs (i.e., Quarterly PTO Balances by Division).

    Assists in the process of unemployment statistical information, Workers Compensation, General Liability reporting and payment information. Ensures information is correct in order to process payments. Ensures year-end reporting and W-2’s are accurate and timely.

    Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    Required Skills

    KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS  Knowledge of HR/Payroll software programs. Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations. Knowledge of payroll tracking, reconciliation and reporting. Knowledge of the regulatory standards and policies and procedures of payroll. Knowledge of wage and labor laws. Knowledge of applicable computer system software programs. Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing payroll various applications. Skill in working independently, multitasking, prioritizing projects, and meeting deadlines. Skill in using analytical and research skills in performance of job duties. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION An Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field. Progressively responsible related work experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION Non-supervisory - Three (3) years of payroll experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations

    MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds.    ANMC is not a latex free environment. Therefore, some latex exposure can be expected.
