JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction and mentorship, develops interface solutions to support and streamline critical clinical, financial and operational processes. Works as a member of the interface team responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of strategic architectures of healthcare interfaces at all levels of the enterprise.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Develops a broad understanding of the organization’s technical and interface environment and works to design, develop, test, and deploy interface solutions that meet the needs of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) and our tribal health partners across the state of Alaska.
- Gathers, analyzes, and documents business, clinical, or regulatory requirements from stakeholders.
- Develops, builds, and tests HL7 interfaces and associated interface security using technologies such as SSL, Public-Key encryption, and Certificates or other emerging security technologies.
- Creates deliverables to automate key processes to support health care delivery.
- Adheres to the use of ANTHC design principles and documentation standards; Produces or participates in documentation for end-user training and peer knowledge transfer.
- Contributes to the development of standards, design and implementation of proactive processes to support and maintain a healthy interface environment with minimal downtime.
- Works with team to track and monitor the entire interface portfolio.
- Provides on call and after hours support coverage to maintain the production systems on a rotating basis with other team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE OF;
- HL7 standards, familiarity with backend systems and data exchange

Required Experience
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Statistics, Analytics or business-related related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience as a Programmer/Analyst, interface developer, comparable education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
- Five (5) years professional work in software development, computer programming, or related area.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
- Two (2) years working in a healthcare environment; Cerner Millennium experience a plus.
- Skill in 2 or more of the following interface standards; HL7 V2.x, HL7 V3, FHIR, CCDA, X.12.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
One certification from the following list:
- HL7 V2.X
- HL7 FHIR
- HL7 CCD
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Depending on the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional technical certifications and programming language skills.
