  • Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY:  Under specific to limited direction depending on the level, coordinates project planning, funding, approval, and implementation of various project components.  Works with staff members and other stakeholders to successfully plan and execute their projects supporting the priorities of the organization while ensuring that projects are completed on schedule.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES All Oversees various components of projects while meeting quality standards and the production of expected deliverables during all phases of the project life cycle.   Coordinates and manages projects, incorporating and adhering to project management standards and methodology, using prescribed tools and documents as required to coordinate and manage projects. 

    Tracks the day-to-day activities required to ensure projects are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals, departmental policies, and/or the standard terms and conditions of the contract, if applicable.

    Coordinates assigned staff in all aspects of the planning, design and implementation of highly complex projects.  Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks/reviews vendor deliverables. 

    Communicates all of the requirements and commitments (both verbally and in writing) for each project with clients, ANTHC staff and management. Participates with other project managers in standards development, educational sessions and process improvement projects.

    Project Coordinator II & III Assists in the development of project scope and objectives.  Assists in the development of detailed work plans, which include clear milestones and assignment of project task responsibilities and schedules. Publishes and maintains status reports, communication plans, risk plans as is consistent with standard protocol. Assists staff or with limited oversight conducts project meetings and is responsible for project performance tracking analysis.

    Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    Required Skills

    KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS  All Knowledge and proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio. Knowledge of Project Management techniques and standard methodologies. Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, contractors, and representatives from other local, state and Federal organizations. Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals with wide array of cultural, political, educational, socio-economic, geographic and linguistic backgrounds. Skill in addressing sensitive issues and situations.

    Project Coordinator II & III Knowledge of Project management experience to include the use of standard methodologies on complex projects in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes, administrative orders and other operational guidelines and directives. Skill in advising leaders of complex organizational units.

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION All A Bachelor’s Degree in project management or related field.  Progressively responsible professional /exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education. Project Coordinator III Master’s Degree in Political Science, Economics, Public Affairs, Political Communications, Health Care Administration, Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Rural Development, or Social Services.    Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION Project Coordinator I Non-supervisory – One (1) year professional work experience managing minor projects or working in positions using the organizational and professional skills used in project management.  An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience. AND Supervisory – None

    Project Coordinator II Non-supervisory – Two (2) years professional work experience managing minor or medium scale projects or working in positions using the organizational and professional skills used in project management.  An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience. AND Supervisory – None

    Project Coordinator III Non-supervisory – Three (3) years professional work experience managing minor or medium scale projects or working in positions using the organizational and professional skills used in project management.  An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience. AND Supervisory – None

    PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION Project Coordinator III – Project Management Professional. Two (2) years of additional project management work experience may be substituted for this certification.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS N/A

    WORKING CONDITIONS The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:  Must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds.    ANMC is not a latex free facility; an employee should expect to work in an environment where latex may be present. Travels frequently within Alaska in small fixed wing aircraft.
