  • Responsibilities

     

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:  Multi-modality position provides full technical/clinical services in Medical Imaging Services.

    Required Skills

     

    • Perform SOP responsibilities for each appropriate modality. Trouble shoots as needed.
    • Perform work independently and under normal as well as critical care conditions.
    • Perform all aspects of CR and Digital Radiography, and Teleradiography utilizing various computer software programs, PACS, CD Burner and Scanner.
    • Demonstrate clinical expertise in all required modalities. Maintain CME.
    • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit.
    • The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g., pediatric/adult/geriatric); possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s physical and mental status.
    • Interpret the appropriate information provided, to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the assigned unit’s policies and procedure’s manual.
    • Perform work independently and under normal as well as critical care conditions.
    • Other duties as assigned by Medical Imaging Manager.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS: 

    • Work performed at Kanakanak Hospital in the Medical Imaging Department and hospital.
    • The employee may have exposure to communicable diseases, initiating the use of universal precautions for self and patient safety.
    • The employee may be occasionally subject to verbal abuse, threats, and physical violence from angry, hostile, or disgruntled patients and /or family members requiring intervention by security personnel.
    • Employee work hours, lunch and break time is not regularly set and is dependent upon patient load and flow schedule.
    • Position requires lifting up to 25# due to direct patient care, and equipment manipulation to perform this job.
    • Position requires mandatory weeknight, weekend, and Holiday on-call work in CT, Ultrasound, and X-ray provided by MIS on a rotating schedule. Twenty (20) minute response rule applies.
    • Must utilize special safety precautions as required to reduce over exposure to Radiation and/or Bio-effects of ultrasound. ALARA   rule applies. Must shield all patients when possible.
    • Follow Risk Managements policies and procedures.
    • Must become proficient in BBAHC, and MIS computer programs within probationary period.

    Must be willing to cross train in other modalities as needed to cover on-call requirements

    Required Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • American Registry Radiological Technologist Registration (ARRT)(RT)
    • ARRT – Mammography
    • ARRT - CT
    • ARRT/ARDMS   Sonographer or documented 5+years of experience in Ultrasound scanning.
