Our campuses in Oakland and Berkeley have 24-hour emergency and medical/surgical services. At our Alta Bates Berkeley campus we have obstetric services. Our Labor and Delivery Unit delivers nearly 6,000 babies a year; however, our focus is on providing an individualized patient experience tailored to the needs and requests of our patients. Our Unit is Level lll as is our Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In 2016 the California Health and Human Services Department recognized us for reducing cesarean births for first-time moms with low-risk pregnancies. We conduct simulations regularly as a multi-disciplinary team and in a Unit this size and with such a focus on quality, communication is paramount to our success. The staff nurse is a registered nurse who is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate and cost effective patient care from admission through discharge. Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. BSN preferred. Current (BCLS) Basic Life Support Certification. Other Qualifications: Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English. Able to clearly demonstrate knowledge of nursing process and nursing theory. Able to effectively present ideas. Demonstrates leadership capabilities, good interpersonal skills and a team player. Staff Nurse I: Entry level position for a registered nurse with limited experience, or less than six months clinical experience, or inactive clinical experience for five years. Interim Permit or Current California RN license required. Staff Nurse II: Current California RN license required.
