This position performs all aspects of support services functions for the Clinical Laboratory. Position Summary: Receives and processes specimens in one or more sections of the Laboratory. Position Responsibilities: Receives and prepares for testing, various types of body fluids and/or tissue, following established procedure to ensure the integrity and positive identification of the specimen submitted. Education / Training / Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certifications: None Other Skills: Able to operate biologic safety hood, autoclave, microtome, bone saw and centrifuge. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpet a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
