Job Description Job Summary: Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the pharmacist in the Outpatient Pharmacy. The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician will perform pharmaceutical distributive functions to assist in the caring for patients in a professional manner. Assists pharmacists in the preparation of medications by performing routine and technical aspects of prescription processing. Serves as an assistant to the pharmacist in all mechanical phases of outpatient pharmacy operations. Works under pharmacists supervision. Serves as liaison in delivery of Meds-to-Beds for patients being discharged. Checks medications for outdates as assigned. Ability to operate cash register / credit card machine / balance bank. . Assists in the training of new employees. May assist in the selection of technical staff. Position carries responsibility for other members of the healthcare team. This individual will often coordinate his/her work to meet the ever-changing needs of the department/hospital. Responsibilities: * Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems. * Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department. * Repackages bulk medications. * Receives and stores incoming supplies. Qualifications Licenses/Certifications/Registration: * Required Credential(s): * Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
