Essential Functions * Demonstrates knowledge of standard security practices and techniques. * Demonstrates knowledge of state/local laws and ensures compliance with all State and Federal Laws. Knows and understands all hospital policies in the area of public safety. * Demonstrates knowledge of hospital properties, population and traffic control problems. * Demonstrates knowledge of fire prevention techniques. * Reacts quickly and calmly under emergency conditions. * Obtains information through interviews, interrogations and observations. * Demonstrates skill in the use of and care of firearms and adheres to firearm safety policies. * Meets specific physical requirements of the job, such as: continuous walking for patrol purposes; operating vehicles, restraining and lifting/moving combative patients; occasional running when quick response or pursuit becomes necessary. Must be able to go from basement to 6th and back to the basement in 6 minutes. * Demonstrates required patrols of all extended property areas. (Walking off property at least one time per shift). * Demonstrates required patrols of all internal areas of the facility. * Demonstrates ability for appropriate follow through in emergencies. * Enforces parking policies by issuing parking violations. Minimum Work Experience Previous security or law enforcement/military experience helpful but not required.
