Automated Systems Technician - PSE Salary $19.19 Hourly Location Throughout San Bernardino County, CA Job Type Temporary or Extra-Help Department Special Districts Job Number 18-40642AST-01 Closing Continuous The Job This is a Part-Time, Extra-Help position with CONFIRE CONFIRE, JPA is accepting applications for part-time Automated Systems Technicians, who install telecommunication and data lines and equipment, as well as maintain desktop PCs, local/wide area networks, and a variety of hardware and software. This position is a Public Service Employee (PSE) position, scheduled for up to 29 hours per week. ABOUT CONFIRE, JPA CONFIRE JPA is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) located in San Bernardino County California established to provide communications, dispatch, computer information systems support (MIS), and geographic information systems (GIS) to the Consolidated Fire Agencies Joint Power Authority (CONFIRE JPA) and contract agencies. The CONFIRE Communications Center (Comm Center) is located in the City of Rialto. Comm Center's primary function is to provide 24-hour/365 day direct fire, EMS, and rescue dispatch services to CONFIRE's member and contract agencies. Beyond the direct fire dispatch role, Comm Center also functions as the San Bernardino County Operational Area (AO) dispatch, which provides large incident coordination for fire, local government, and emergency medical resources on a countywide basis. CONFIRE JPA member agencies include Colton Fire Department, Loma Linda Fire Department, Rancho Cucamonga Fire District, Redlands Fire Department, Rialto Fire Department, and San Bernardino County Fire Department. CONFIRE contracted agencies include Apple Valley Fire Protection District, Big Bear Fire Department, Running Springs Fire District, Montclair Fire Department, Twenty-Nine Palms Fire Department, and County Transportation/Flood Department (after hours). CONFIRE also provides after hours dispatch services for local government, i.e. the County Museums, Public Health, and the City of Loma Linda. These agencies represent over 100 fire stations serving numerous communities covering the majority of the residents and businesses within the County of San Bernardino. In 2014 Comm Center dispatched over 140,000 incidents. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT These are extra-help, non-regular positions classified as Public Service Employees. These temporary positions will be employed for approximately 6-12 months and will average approximately 25-29 hours per week. Successful candidates shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment, and will not attain regular status. All new employees must adhere to the provisions of the County Special Districts and Fire Dress Code, which prohibits all visible tattoos. Travel throughout the County is required. A valid CA driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at time of appointment. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess 18 months of recent experience providing IT customer service and technical support for computerized systems, or installing telecommunication and data lines and equipment. In addition, this ideal candidate will possess at least one of the following: Education: Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed post-high school level coursework in information technology, computer sciences or closely related field. Certification: Comp TIA: A+, Network +, Security +, MCPE, CCNA or comparable certificate may substitute for the required education. Additional Experience: One (1) additional year of experience as describe above.
