Phlebotomist Laboratory Services Artesia , New Mexico Department Laboratory Services Employment Type Full-Time Minimum Experience Entry-level JOB SUMMARY: Receives, obtains and processes specimens for laboratory analysis on all patient age groups. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Collect and process venous and capillary samples from all patient age groups. Perform and document therapeutic phlebotomies. Document and record samples/results. Accession and process referral testing samples. Maintain records, files and route patient reports. Perform clerical duties as assigned. Participate and promote QA activities. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: As assigned. KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES: Phlebotomy skill and competency. AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security. RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education High school graduate or equivalent; formal phlebotomy training preferred. Work Experience 6 months phlebotomy preferred. Training N/A License/Certification Certified Phlebotomist, CMA, EMT-B preferred. ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
