Health Science Academy Data Assistant Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health-The Health Science Academy - Brooklyn, NY $17 - $20 an hour - Part-time The Health Science Academy (HSA) is a core program of the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health, Inc. (AAIUH).HSA is a pipeline health science afterschool program serving students in grades 6-12 and our alumni. Founded in 1994, it is collaboration between the Institute and SUNY Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn. HSA collaborates with public and parochial schools to offer academic health science enrichment out of school time (OST) programs to middle (during the school day at the schools) and high school students (after-school at SUNY Downstate).In 2017/18 we served almost 250 students in these grades. The main pipeline component, the Academy, is HSAs 3-year (six semesters) program for high achieving high school students (sophomore-senior year) interested in health and science careers.Since 1994, HSA has served over 2,100 students in grades 6-12. Must be available Mondays-Wednesdays, 10:30-6:30(21 hours).Work schedule may include working on some evenings and Saturdays. Salary: $17-$20 an hour, commensurate with experience Responsibilities, including, but not limited to: * Maintains database and paper files using Excel, Filemaker, Survey Monkey and the National Student Clearing House (NSC) databases for HSAs participants: * current students academic records (e.g., data entry of attendance and grades, enter HS grades, review class attendance records, data cleaning) and * alumni (e.g., college enrollment and persistence, HSA engagement) * Assist HSA Manager and Program Coordinator to send disciplinary letters to Academy students twice a semester * Assist Program Coordinator with creating and organizing files for student recruitment each spring and follow-up (e.g., updating application, schedule interviews, send decision emails)
