Number 28544 Job Details Patient Access Representative - Emergency Department Position Overview The Patient Access Representative- Emergency Department provides customer-service coverage in emergency department locations of Asante. This role assumes the responsibility for successful financial outcomes of all patient services. Under the general supervision of the Patient Access Supervisor, this position performs imperative duties. As the Patient Access Representative-Emergency Department at Asante you will have the opportunity to: * Ensure accurate and timely billing and verify insurance eligibility from patient's insurance card or through the use of verification software or insurance company web sites. * Estimate patient's portion of the charges and add or review all notes on the account and attempt to collect the amount owed. * Use appropriate software/programs to determine eligibility for the Oregon Health Plan and Financial Assistance programs with uninsured and underinsured patients. Provide applications for these programs as well as education on the completion and submission of these forms. * Make appropriate referrals for patients requiring further assistance. * Follow department procedures regarding ABN's, waivers, authorizations, specific insurance requirements and procedures. * Meet department productivity standards of registered accounts. This role is also responsible for thoroughly and accurately describing the various compliance and regulatory documents that Asante is required to present to patients QUALIFICATIONS Education · High School diploma or equivalent · Associates Degree preferred Experience · One year patient registration or related medical/business office experience · Preferred qualifications o Familiar with insurance requirements and guidelines o Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, insurance and/or payor requirements o Familiar with EHR programs (e.g. Epic) o Medical terminology o Hospital and professional billing processes and reimbursement · Bilingual in English/Spanish also preferred.
