  • Responsibilities

    The Assistant Scientist RMC will be responsible to lead and manage various raw material projects for existing marketed including cosmetic, OTC monograph drug products, NDA and Class II Medical Device products in the Consumer Products portfolio. The portfolio includes brands such as JOHNSON'S® Baby, BENGAY®, AVEENO®, CLEAN & CLEAR®, LUBRIDERM®, and LISTERINE®.

    The Assistant Scientist RMC will:

    • Lead and provide support to marketed products for raw material qualifications projects
    • Process improvements and troubleshooting of raw material issues at the manufacturing sites
    • Execute technical aspects of projects
    • Report metrics
    • Interact with and/or lead cross-functional teams to implement projects
    • Manage raw material programs within the RMC

    The scope of work may include alternate material qualifications, packaging component projects, process improvement, and manufacturing plant support.

    Additionally, the Assistant Scientist RMC will work independently to drive technical resolutions in manufacturing and troubleshoot raw material/product issues under defined timelines.

    The Assistant Scientist RMC will collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Research and Development (R&D), Regulatory, Toxicology, Claims and other functional groups as needed.

  • Qualifications
    • Candidate must be a new college graduate, graduating no more than 12 months prior to their start date
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Material Sciences is preferred.
    • A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
    • Understanding of cGMPs and current FDA Compliance requirements is preferred.
    • Additional technical competencies in Sharepoint and other information technology systems are highly desirable, as is experience with PubMed databases and other literature databases.
    • Experience in formulation or manufacturing of consumer/pharmaceutical products is highly preferred.
    • Experience with consumer products, such as skin care, skin cleansers, hair care, oral care, baby care and/or deodorant products is highly preferred.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
    • Experience managing projects is required.
    • Demonstrated leadership is preferred.
    • Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
    • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
