    The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars, energy devices and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of open and minimally invasive surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity.     DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

     

    1. Conducts validation studies on manufacturing equipment and processes.
    2. Plans, coordinates, and implements all qualification of new and/or improved manufacturing processes and equipment.
    3. Performs validations, and project engineering activities for complete project or portions of major projects to optimize or transfer manufacturing processes.
    4. Provides day-to-day troubleshooting and technical assistance to the site operations.
    5. Complies with J&J Safety Requirements and ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department.
    6. Develops, monitors, and effectively uses control charts and operational indicators, such as OEE, downtime, yield, and drives improvement actions as needed.
    7. Effectively manage resources allocated to assigned projects to meet quality, financial, EH&S, and product/process improvement targets.
    8. Create and participate in a work environment in which change is embraced and collaboration is the foundation of success.
    9. Assist in new and existing process and equipment design.
    10. Execute Process Excellence projects directed toward Design Excellence of new products, as well as Lean Six Sigma of both new and existing processes, including but not limited to safety and ergonomic improvements, quality improvements, cost reductions and productivity improvements.
    11. Prepare oral and written technical and progress reports regarding projects.
    12. Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
    13. For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
    14. Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
    15. Performs other duties assigned as needed
  • Qualifications
    1. Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree or Equivalents Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline; BSChE, preferred or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree.

    I. BS Degree or Equivalent with 0-2 years related experience. II. MS Degree with 0 years related experience.

    1. Computer and database management skills.
    2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    3. Excellence communication and interpersonal relation skills.
    4. Experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.
    5. Experience with Minitab is preferred.
    6. Experience in leading and managing projects and milestones preferred.
    7. Desire practical, first-hand experience successfully applying lean manufacturing tools with documented improvement project completion.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES AND AFFILIATIONS.

    1. Prefer Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification or equivalent.
    2. Statistical and analytical problem solving.
    3. Knowledge of 21CFR 820, 21 CFR 4 and ISO 13485/EN ISO 13485 preferred. 
    4. Knowledge of Statistical and analytical problem solving methodologies.
    5. Prefer knowledge of lean manufacturing and manufacturing processes.
    6. Knowledge of SPC, DOE, computer skills (word processing, database, graphical data presentation) preferred. 
    7. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Quality System Regulations (QSRs) preferred. 
    8. Training in Process Excellence/Six Sigma tools and methodologies and Certification preferred.
    9. Current Certified Engineer, preferred.
    10. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
    11. Ability to initiate and manage change as well as build effective teams across manufacturing and support areas in multiple facilities.

     

    ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    1. Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
    2. Works within a team environment; behaving in a CREDO-based, respectful manner.
    3. Complies with all federally regulated programs.
    4. Adheres to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines.
    5. Complies with all job specific safety procedures and utilize PPE when necessary.
    6. Complies with quality system requirements as defined within procedures and instructions.
    7. Utilizes applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV, etc.)
    8. Supports LEAN, Six Sigma, and 6S Initiatives.
    9. Support Manufacturing Equipment Excellence including 6S and Operator Asset Care.
    10. Accurately completes records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation).
    11. Consistently meet required Training due date targets.
    12. Execute change and design control in accordance with ETHICON procedures.
    13. Participate in formulating quality/performance standards or product/processes.
    14. Support efforts to develop and sustain a culture of waste reduction and affect an ongoing and sustained improvement in product and process quality.
    15. Ensure fulfillment of all regulatory, safety, industrial hygiene and environmental requirements for implementation of new products, processes, and equipment.
    16. Assist in preparation of annual budget, including identification of new projects to drive growth and cost control for both enterprise and operating company success.
    17. Originate Capital appropriation Requests (CAR) for capital required project work.
    18. Fulfill all business plan and CAR obligations for assigned areas of responsibility.
    19. Drive identification and successfully implement cost improvement projects (CIP).
    20. Plan, conduct, and direct validation studies, including complete projects requiring advanced knowledge of equipment and processes.
    21. Coordinate activity of suppliers and divisional contacts within the company.
    22. Accountable for ensuring the completeness of training programs for craft associates on equipment modifications and new machinery in areas of responsibility.
    23. Accountable for assuring product and equipment designs are capable of meeting ETHICON, Inc. quality standards.
    24. Accountable to the Johnson and Johnson Standards of Leadership (Credo Values, customer/Marketplace Focus, Innovation, Masters complexity, and Organizational and People Development).
    25. Investigate and manage customer complaints, as necessary.
