    We are searching for the best talent for an Associate Scientist, Biologics Analytical Development to be located in Malvern, PA.

    Purpose: Within J&J Research & Development, the Therapeutics Development & Supply (TDS) organization is responsible for the development, clinical supply, marketed product support, and life cycle management of Biotherapeutics. Within TDS, the Analytical Development (AD) Biologics group supports method development and validation, process and formulation development, release, and stability via automated workflows.

    We are hiring an Associate Scientist to support the Process Analytical Sciences Central Automation Lab (PASCAL) team in Therapeutics Development and Supply - Analytical Development (TDS-AD). The role includes development, operation, and troubleshooting of automated Workcells to support PAS non-GMP testing for process and formulation development across cell, gene, and protein therapeutics. This role will be responsible for multiple Workcells to support antigen binding assays.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Collaborating within a cross-functional team to design, develop, and deploy end-to-end automation solutions for antigen binding assays.

    • Collaborating with Automation, AD Operations and IT to automate data flow within laboratory automation solutions.

    • Operating Workcells using control software such as Biosero Green Button Go®, perform level 1 troubleshooting, and escalate issues as necessary.

    • Completing testing, data analysis and review as needed per appropriate test methods and procedures.

    • Authoring documentation for Workcell process flows (Methods, Work Instructions, and/or SOPs).

    • Ensuring Workcell equipment is routinely maintained for optimal operations.

    • Be a liaison and divert manual testing work to appropriate PAS teams if needed.

    • Identifying and assisting in development of new automated methods.

    • Engaging in a dynamic team environment.

    • Exhibiting strong organizational skills combined with great attention to detail.

    Qualifications / Requirements:

    Education:

    • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or a related field is required. An advanced degree (Master's) is preferred.

    Experience & Skills:

    Required:

    • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required.

    • Experience with automated equipment and software (e.g., Hamilton Venus, Tecan Fluent Control, Biosero Green Button Go®) is required.

    • Experience with execution of analytical methods (e.g., ELISA and/or AlphaLISA) is required.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote) is required.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and oral) and the ability to work in a cross-functional customer-focused environment is required.

    • Ability to creatively solve technical problems while meeting accelerated project timelines is required.

    • Capability of working in a cross-functional team environment with a positive attitude is required.

    Preferred:

    • Knowledge and working experience on proteins or therapeutic cell and gene therapy projects is preferred.

    • Experience with writing SOPs and methods is preferred.

    • Experience with BIOVIA, CISPro, data review, and forecasting is preferred.

    • Experience in equipment troubleshooting and routine instrument maintenance is preferred.

    • Experience with analytical method development is preferred.

    • Experience with migrating analytical assays from manual process to automated workflows is preferred.
