    JOB SUMMARY: • Responsible for evaluating the needs of sick or injured patients and provide medical care according to the rules and regulations established by the Kentucky State Board of licensure, the Medical Director, and Methodist Hospital. • Actively works as a team member to provide patient care and transportation of patients to a medical facility. • Able to uses independent judgment based on the needs of the department, Hospital and community • Complete protected health information access

    JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: • Responds to Emergency 911 calls within 5 minutes of dispatch. Completes run delay data in the Ambulance call record if delay over 5 minutes • Demonstrates the ability to safely operate emergency vehicles in all environmental condition. o Observes traffic laws while on Ambulance calls • Performs ALS level patient assessment and continuously re-evaluates the patient’s condition in an ongoing assessment. o Obtains a minimum of 2 sets of vital signs. o Actively observes for changes in patients condition. o Appropriately reports all observations. • Actively Administers ALS level patient care according to Methodist Hospital Ambulance Services established protocols. • Appropriately directs EMT and on-scene personnel in assisting with the rendering of patient care by the ALS provider. • Able to manage and maintain emergency scenes into a well-organized work environment, • Performs a daily inspection of emergency vehicle and insures each Ambulance is prepared to respond to Ambulance calls. o Insures each Ambulance is fully functional. o Insure each Ambulance is fully supplied. o Insures the equipment on each Ambulance is fully operational. o Immediately reports any equipment or vehicle that is not working properly. o Insures supplies have been re-stocked after each ambulance call. o Insures the interior and exterior of the Ambulance is clean. • Assist others with daily duties and cleaning of EMS quarters. • Completes all required Patient care documentation and associated paperwork in a timely fashion as director by EMS departmental administration. • Assist the Director, Assistant Director and Chief Paramedic with addition duties as deemed necessary for the daily operations of the service as determined by the Director, Assistant Director and /or Chief Paramedic.

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must meet and maintain all Kentucky state required certifications to hold a Paramedic license. Maintain a current driver’s license. Certified in CPR, ACLS, Hazmat Awareness Level, and Defensive Driving and ITLS certification preferred prior to employment. If candidate is certified in ITLS he/she will be allowed 6 months to gain either PHTLS or ITLS certification.

    EDUCATION: Educational experience as required by state regulations for Paramedic course with documented clinical internship.

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a shift EMT or six months Paramedic experience preferred. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills required.
