RN- Per Diem Pre & Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) - (PD3)
10 to 13 hours shifts 2 days per week to include weekdays & weekends
One to Two night call shifts per month
A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for the post anesthesia patient and their families in collaboration with all other members of the health care team through the nursing process and in conjunction with the policies and procedures of Stamford Health System
Our high functioning team is seeking Per Diem candidates available to work 50+ hours per month a least one shift per week or 2 (8) hour shifts per week.
Specific qualities desired, BSN strongly preferred, patient centered team oriented, critical care experience highly desirable.
Respects and protects the patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patient’s best interests with full consideration of their legal rights.
Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
Adhere to aseptic practices to protect patients from injury, minimize wound contamination and reduce patient risk for surgical site infection.
Demonstrates competency in IV insertion and discontinuation of same; Maintains patent airway, including adult and pediatric patients; Manages monitoring and respiratory equipment, fluid lines, tubes, drains and catheters; Manages patients with arterial and central venous catheters; Demonstrates ability to assist in incubating a patient and demonstrates competency in ventilator use;
-Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants and other hazardous substances.
-Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peer, managers and other team members.
Required Skills
Current CT Nursing License required
BLS/ ACLS certification required
Perianesthesia certification preferred
Minimum 2 years previous experience in either a hospital or ambulatory surgical center setting required. ICU experience preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, surgical center staff, physicians and other health care workers. Able to read, write and speak English.
Required Experience
Current CT Nursing License required
BLS/ ACLS certification required
