    Charge Capture Coordinator - BMDA Job Summary The Charge Capture Coordinator Oncology Services position will review and validate daily charge capture activities for all patients seen and treated within an outpatient cancer center in a compliant, efficient and timely manner allowing for maximum reimbursement where appropriate. Key Functions -Responsible to facilitate accurate code capture and documentation prior to export to the billing office for submission to payers. -Responsible to manage activities associated with validating and reconciling daily charges and diagnosis coding within the patient medical record for most clinic services and MOSAIC system for Radiation Oncology. -Performs comprehensive coding and documentation reviews, applies correct coding and applicable coding guidelines and performs accurate charge submission to the billing office per interface or detailed report. -Communicates all charge capture concerns to manager immediately. -Demonstrates and remains knowledgeable regarding the electronic medical record system utilized by the cancer center outpatient clinics, infusion therapy, and radiation oncology. -Conducts departmental audits in collaboration with Compliance to ensure charge documentation is complete and reviews patient charts to determine procedure codes are appropriate. -Works with physicians and staff to ensure all documentation is updated annually to reflect new regulatory issues. -Maintain current knowledge of Medicare and CPT®guidelines and requirements for procedure coding. This includes maintenance of applicable certifications. -Communicate documentation errors and omissions to allow for necessary corrections by clinic physicians and staff on a daily basis. -Resolve coding and documentation issues quickly and consistently with goal to improve revenue cycle. -Minimize compliance risks by ensuring consistency and appropriateness of modifier application and edit corrections. -Track and trend coding and charge capture errors to identify areas for workflow improvement and/or education. -Provide education and feedback to hospital department staff to coincide with charge capture and coding errors and ongoing coding and documentation changes. -Be mindful of ancillary system and process issues that contribute to coding edits, offer feedback where applicable. -Utilize all documentation available (e.g., patient record) as a resource to maintain high level of compliance in resolving edits. -Provide input on common denials to facilitate efficient billing and accurate reimbursement. -Provide input in the appeals process. Evaluate appeals for completeness and accuracy of documentation as requested. -Provide input in the authorization process by assisting with tools and gathering information related to ICD-10 and CPT®coding for various therapeutic modalities or patient courses. -Attends clinical department and Revenue Cycle meetings, when necessary. -Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, assisting with radiation therapy treatment of patients as required if certified to do so.
